Need advice/help on rehoming/rescues in Dallas, Tx.

I need help re-homing two older dogs in the Dallas, Tx area.

My SIL was recently diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. For those of you who do not know, it has a dismal prognosis. Generally 6 months. She wants to keep the dogs with her until she cannot take care of them.

She has two older dogs. Both are in good shape. One is 11, one is 12. One is a lab-mix, the other a hound mix. One has well-controlled Addisons.

I realize that it is a really tough time to rehome older dogs right now. I realize that it may be kinder, given their ages, to euthanize. But I do not want to tell that to a woman with a terminal disease.

We cannot take them because I am asthmatic. No one else in the family has a stable enough home life to have a dog. I need help with locating a rescue down there that might be able to help rehome the dogs when needed. Alternatively, if anyone in the area is looking for some very sweet older dogs, I know where they live.

OP, I’ve asked a friend who runs a rescue in Dallas. Hoping for some good news for both the dogs and your SIL.

I have a friend who was very involved in dachshund rescue in the DFW area and has contacts in the all breed rescue programs. There are several in the DFW area. You might also check on Pet Finder to locate rescue groups in the area.
