Need advice on endurance saddles....

Hi All!

I have been riding my large app in a Kate’s aussie saddle I absolutely love for the past 3 years. Fits my gelding great but a little big for me. Now that my hubby started riding he has officially confiscated it ( better suited for him and his gelding anyway). So now I’m in the market and I’m looking for a lightweight endurance saddle. I loves the Kate’s but they are no longer in business and it was also pretty heavy and bulky. My App is 16 hands so lightweight is super important.

I’ve tried a few of the more western style ones with larger fenders and I’m personally not a fan. Can anyone recommend brands that give you more of an English seating position and no bulky fenders? My app is pretty easy to fit but is more on the wide side…

I should mention I have tried a few other aussie saddles but I’m ready to try something new after using a friends dressage saddle. I actually like a little bit of a chair seat ( it’s a sickness I know)

Have you looked at the Tuckers? That’s what I lust after…

Check out Desoto saddles. They are great and sometimes you can find used ones.

Price range? I have friends who ride in timberlines (they have a slim fender option), SR saddles (they have a “close contact” option), Wintec endurance saddles which look similar to a dressage saddle, and bob marshals that have a stirrup strap most of the time instead of a fender. I do have one friend in a tucker equitation that loves it but there rest of us find the Tuckers just so so heavy and usually opt for something else. Also you might look into Reactor Panel saddles as they have a few that are dressage “style” trail saddles.

Good luck!

You didn’t say what your budget was but the most lightweight English-style endurance saddle I know personally (have demo-ed it) is the Reactor Panel “Heraldic.”

There are also the Duett trail saddles that are less expensive and seem perfect for wide backs but I have never tried one myself.

there is also an endurance saddle by thorogood

Price range would be helpful and conformation pics of your horse as well. Black Country, Frank Baines, Lovatt & Ricketts and Duett all make good endurance/trail saddles.

The Prestige Atena Flaps is my current favorite.

I lust after the Synergist saddles.

The Abetta saddles are also a good light weight synthetic option.
