Need advice: stallion for amateur event prospect need size, confidence, jump ability

My stallion fits your list to a T. He is a 16.3H (and throws some size), he is very brave and did very well in the YEH classes. I switched to dressage and he is now competing at 4th level. He is an amazing jumper and could have gone very far in eventing.
One of his fillies screams 4 star prospect, and all of his babies have the best temperament. He is the total package good looks, very athletic and a temperament to die for. His dad competed at Advanced level in eventing.

Here are some pictures of him :

Let me know if you have some questions

Have heard wonderful things about Ironman and Cicera’s Icewater. Both are grey but are not homozygous for it. Ironman is on in years but still getting mares in foal last I heard. CI has just come out of retirement from eventing and is also still fertile. I’m an ammy, and I am breeding my Dutch mare by Damiro to Richard, also Dutch who I think is undervalued here in the States. He’s a big black and gorgeous sweetheart of a horse and his owner has been lovely to deal with. He is also a really nice mover. He has a gorgeous and successful daughter eventing in Holland and competed himself in jumpers in Europe and here. Both he and my mare are from solid jumping lines. Otherwise, yes the Irish Sport Horses are doing very well in eventing though I have heard that some of the crossbreds can be tough temperament-wise for the average amateur as they can be somewhat bold and determined. Just something to be mindful of.

Denny Emerson has quite a few talented eventers by stallions from Ferme Beaulieu Farm in Canada. Coolman is not available any longer but Quissini (QDR) has produced some nice big eventers. I have a yearling by him out of a Pilot mare that is all legs.

IRONMAN

I strongly second IRONMAN.

He gives size, JUMP, beauty and the most important feature: BRAINS. I have two of his offspring and will rebreed to him again this year. I love the temperments, trainability and desire to please humans, that Ironman imprints on his offspring. They can seriously JUMP too.

He is heavily G-line Hannovarian, you really can not go wrong with Ironman

Yes, this is exactly what I keep hearing and my mare’s next date may very well be with him before he’s no longer available.

Heraldic was #1 as an eventing sire.

One of his sons, Hunter, is available here

I also like Ironman, great temperament.

Have had several event riders/breeders use Dakota VDL

We just confirmed our mare in foal to Ciceras Icewater–super transaction could not have gone any easier or been anymore pleasant. SO was super to deal with-very fertile stallion, excellent semen quality.

Check out Flagmount’s Freedom in Texas, ISH. I picked up a nice TB mare out of FL that is turning out to have past injury issues, so I am breeding her as she is tall, elegant, leggy, a good mover and sweet as pie. In the course of shopping stallions, I’ve looked hard at Cicera’s Icewater and Ironman, whom I both like, as mentioned above. Currently, Cicera’s Icewater is only taking approved RPSI and Holsteiner mares. Ironman is absolutely lovely as is his owner, but moves more like a Hunter to me which makes sense, as he is a top hunter sire. Concerto Grosso is VERY nice. But I must admit I’m pretty impressed with Flagmount’s Freedom’s production record of numerous amateur eventing horses, some of whom are upper level. As someone else pointed out, just enter Flagmount into the usea’s horse search feature and look at the roster that pops up. He’s 10th on the USEA’s Eventing Sires of 2013 list. And he crosses well with TB mares. Might want to have a look.

Navarone is popular with the eventers. Goes very well with the thoroughbred mares too. He is 16-2 and good body size. His rider says he feels bigger and takes up a lot of leg. Absolute best temperament you can find and produce. He did both Grand Prix dressage and jumped to 1.4m with many wins. He has offspring eventing and Thunder III doing CCI***. Of course you all know his famous sire Jus de Pomme 3 time Olympic Gold jumper. He is a favorite in the barn and used for lessons he is so easy.

Concur with the ISH recommendation. 3/4 TB on IDH are frequently ideal eventers. You’ve got several recommendations here, but be aware that they’re hard to find in the US. Also be careful not to breed too heavy. Be aware they’re like all other horse breeds, some are ammie friendly, some are pro rides - one size does NOT fit all. We’ve got a Master Imp on King of Diamonds, crossed on a Sir Gaylord mare. World class talent, but under no circumstances an ammy ride.

Riverman is, IMO, the #1 improvement sire in the US, especially for eventing. His babies are almost always fabulous; never seen a sire stamp like he does (we’ve trained/competed/bred several, and have one coming 3 year old that’s world class; damned horse is smarter than I am). But I would be very careful about recommending them to ammies - they have great brains and can be very creative, not mean or difficult, but IMO best for pros due to sheer talent and creativity.[/QUOTE]

Absolutely recommend 3/4 TB, ISH’s!! We’ve been breeding this cross for years and LOVE the results!! TB movement and athletic ability with a puppy dog mentality!! We’ve gelded out ISH stallion, Seattle Blues (NO fault with him or his produce) to keep as a personal horse for myself, but we have enough 1/2 and 3/4 TB, ISH mares to keep and breed to our TB stallion, Challenged. We are momentarily expecting our first ISH foal (3/4 TB) by Challenged…I can’t wait to see THIS one!!
