Hi all, I am constantly going out to the barn and then coming back into my house. I dont’ want to tie and untie my barn tennis every time. Can someone recommend a good “VERY EASY to slip-on” sturdy shoe with a good arch support. I need something fairly wide in the toe-box and very easy to slip on and off. Right now I’m using my slip on tall rubber boots, but for summer, that’s too hot.

I lucked out & found a pair of Merrell clog-type slipons at a thrift store ($5!!!)
The material is some sort of nylon with plenty of ventilation and washable or hose-offable.
After a year of steady use they are holding up great.

I have a pair of the Merrels 2Dogs has. Only I didn’t get such an awesome bargain on them! Lucky! They’re comfy, sturdy and pretty good for the barn. Love mine. They hold up to repeated soakings too, have had mine 2-3 years now and when it’s wicked hot outside I spray each shoe with icy water from the hose while wearing them…inside and out.
I like my Ropers. They’re just a slip on shoe. I also use a pair of Ariat Probaby boots as ‘barn shoes’. They pull on and off easily (I can just step into them and walk off and then take them off by stepping on the heels) and are extremely comfortable. The Ariats are the more comfortable of the two.
I bought Sloggers at TSC that were plain old ugly blue.
These have some flash to them. Be sure you buy the “full shoe”, not the sandal type for the barn, if you go with this:)
Dankso Professionals and LLBean slip-on mud boots.
I’m not sure about the Dankso, lots of threads about people twisting there ankles in them, though I have never owned a pair. My most favorite were the Ariat Terrain Zip’s, sadly no longer made, I just use a pair of Justin Ropers that are waterproof, easy enough to pull on/off, zip paddock boots or a jodhpur type boot that you can easily pull on.
Redbacks are similar to Blundstones but made much better than the ‘new’ Blundstones.
So far my Redbacks have held up really well with absolutely NO care except cleaning once/yr when I put them away in favor of a warm barn boot. I think the current pair are at least 5 yrs old and still look and feel great. They aren’t cheap but because they do hold up so well, they are well worth a few extra bucks.

I don’t know the brand name but we always called them duck shoes… the shoes with the rubberized sole which wraps up over the toe and bottom inch of the shoe; they look like a cut-off boot. I cannot find them at stores near me in California. People up north use them for gardening and general use. Okay, I guess everyone calls them duck shoes:
I second the Sloggers!! I just got a pair at TSC (full shoe style, not the clog); they slip right on easily, are waterproof, and I can wear them all day and still be comfortable.
I used to just wear my Ariats all day at the barn, but I’ve started bringing my Sloggers along and trading them out when I’m not riding. They’re seriously comfortable… And I’m a Birkenstock snob (lol), so I’m usually pretty fussy in the footwear department.
These are my favorite barn she ever. They last me about 2 years. When they are new and still look clean I even wear them out and about and look cute with jeans.

I have a pair of the ll bean duck shoes and they just fit horribly. Maybe I need a smaller size?
I’m on second pair of slip on Ariats (shoes not clogs) from TSC. They are easy to step into and I can stand around in them all day and be quite comfortable.

I’ve been wearing “mules” of various brands for years. Ariats, Merrells, and most recently Sanita (the original manufacturer of Danskos). HOWEVER, several weeks ago, I stepped “out the side” of my Merrells and sprained my foot. This after numerous times of doing the same thing without injury, but thinking, “Huh, guess I should think about different footwear,” and of course forgetting about it. I have to admit I’m still wearing the cursed mules, because there really isn’t anything that I have found that is as easy to slip on & off. Meanwhile, my sprained foot is still not quite healed… what will it take for me to finally change, an actual broken bone?! DUH. Probably. :o

On the Bean shoes, order a full size down. I wear a 9 in that and a full 10 in everything else. The sales clerk said that was typical.
Thanks! Those Merrells look wonderful and my old Bean shoes, though they have held up remarkable well, are hot and don’t have much support. I have ordered a pair of these. They should be perfect, both for the barn and for outside work this summer.

They slip on, or comfortable and supportive and my feet wont slide out and I am less likely to turn my ankle like the danskos. When I ordered mine my Mom and another friend also got them and all 3 of us love them!
