How much hay do you need?
The people who bring the hay to the auction deliver it for you. You’d need to ask first if they’d go that far, and they’d probably charge $2/mile to deliver. I calculated the price on the load I got to be (with delivery and tax) just over $4/bale for 50lb bales.
Some of these guys are getting $3 a loaded mile, and bear in mind that the smaller loads are always the ones that go for the most per ton- the loads that are on the back of a pickup, or under 3 tons.
I am in Chester Springs, and I am contemplating going up to one of the sales this week.
