I have narrowed down my show shirt picks to the following…now I need help deciding!! I think my favourite is the first one…but the swirls are kind of in an odd spot… I wish they did pictures of these on real models!
I like the last two the best. I think the darker of the two is my favorite. I can’t tell if the solid part is black or navy though, I’m thinking navy?
I’d love to see a picture of you in the shirt if you get one. I have looked at those shirts too, but I’m not sure if they would work for me as that style is usually too short for me.
On the second to last one I was having a hard time figuring out what color the top part was! On my phone it looked purple, on my laptop it looks blue, but I am not really sure what shade of blue that would be called. And you’re right, I just noticed that the last one has a different color bottom than than sleeve and collar. That is a bit odd.
I think I might go with the second to last one. Slimming is what I am hoping for. My current shirt has to be tucked in which isn’t a very flattering look on me.
That way I can hopefully still use my current show shirt, and pad that I already have instead investing in a whole new shirt. I am hoping the vest will help smooth things out.
My question is, do I still wear my big western belt under the vest? Or go without? I can’t seem to find any pictures of anybody actually mounted with a vest on to see how they wear their chaps.
The transparent mesh the vest is made on is very delicate, also the vest appears to cover the waist and top of the hip. But that could just be the pic. You’ll have to see the fit when you have it on.
If you need a belt, use one that has a buckle that won’t snag the material of the vest while you’re riding.
From a friend of mine who is also an AQHA trainer and rider…
If the shirt is tucked in, you wear a belt with a buckle.
If the shirt is not tucked it and instead sits down over the top of your pants, no belt/buckle.
Reason being that a belt and buckle under a shirt or vest will make your middle appear bulky and you want to be seamless from top to bottom.
That’s what I am leaning towards. I don’t need a belt, I just wear it because I felt like it completed the picture. Even though you will be able to see my belt loops through the vest, I think I will go without, that way maybe I can wear my chaps a bit higher and not feel like I am wearing hip huggers.
I just hope it gets here by next Sunday. :ambivalence: I ordered on Tuesday and still haven’t gotten a shipping notification.
I got to wear my vest at my first show of the year this weekend, and I am very happy with it! Got lots of complements that we looked “well put together” and I felt that the vest did really help smooth things out. Did find out that I do still need to wear a belt though. Once mounted the vest didn’t come down as far as it did when I was trying it on standing up.
