Need help finding a record for a horse

Hello all!!

I am trying to find a competition record of a Holsteiner stallion named Cevin. He is bay (not the grey Cevin Z), 1991 model by Calando I and out of U-Capitola.

Supposedly he was raised in Belgium before being purchased and imported to the USA.

There is no record of him competing anywhere which leads me to believe… his name was changed upon import, and he was gelded before import or possibly after import. I really need this information :sob:

I have emailed Holstiener and no answer.

Thank you!!!

Hi! I believe I found this horse recorded with USEF under the name Da Vinci. USEF recording number 4029432. Recorded owner is KENDLE HANDTMANN of California.

ETA - He last showed with USEF in 2003 with Susan Hutchison

OMGoodness!! Thank you.

I don’t have a USEF membership yet but this gives me somewhere to start. I can’t thank you enough!

HorseTelex reports that he was licensed for Holsteiner, SBS, and Zangersheide, and that he competed to 1.5m. He also has 82 offspring listed in the HorseTelex database, with the last offspring born in 2000 - which may be when he was sold to the U.S.

Kendle Handtmann rode with Jeff Katz.

This may or may not be helpful.

I contacted Zangersheide and they said he was never licenced with them. I normally thought horsetelex was correct, but I guess not.

Considering I contacted horsetelex and gave them all the required information to update my stallion it seems like it takes an act of God to get them to correct it and my first-born child to prove what I asked them to correct, you would think that it would be correct.

Ah, so the person that entered him into the HorseTelex database was perhaps confusing him with Cevin Z - who was registered with Zangersheide (although not licensed with them according to HorseTelex). And Cevin Z is also showing as jumping to 1.5m, so perhaps that info on the Holsteiner Cevin is also incorrect.

And yes, HorseTelex is not always 100% correct so a good MO is to “trust but verify.”

Exactly!

At least this Cevin did well at level 6 and 7 jumpers with a JR and scored some money in the 50k Cosequin GP so definitely not a flop thankfully…LOL

Rimondo has him. https://www.rimondo.com/en/horse-details/11083/cevin. You have to do premium membership to get show record in Europe. I did this with my horse.

Ohhhh I didn’t know that! He wasn’t imported until almost 10 so i will do that.

Thank you
