Hunting season opens at Battle Creek Hunt Club very soon —I was checking my equipment (heard that more accidents happen on the hunt field due to equipment failure than rider error) --and have ordered new reins (have worn mine out) and new stirrup leathers --but I need new stirrup pads, too --you know, the little white things that go into the stirrup. Problem is I need 5.5 inches --yep-- I use a BIG stirrup because I wear Mountain Horse Winter Riding boots and they take a wide stirrup —think clown feet wide. I saw my daughter and another rider at a different time hang up --so I switched to a safety stirrup (kind of an S shape on one side) and wide enough to fit my foot in comfortably. So, anyone find a 5.5 white rubber thing ? I’ve looked at all the places I can think of. . . .and in case anyone wanted to know --Will (former cutting/sorting horse until April ‘17 when I bought him at an auction) is officially joining first flight —I took him around my CC course today --and he did awesome —18" to 2’ 6" --everything except water and a ditch (don’t have them).
I couldn’t find stirrups that were that large. The largest stirrups I could find were 5 1/4" from Stateline Tack. I found a couple of 5" pads, but if you truly need 5 1/2", they will be too small.
Best wishes on your search. Maybe cross post into Off Course and see if a wider audience might have suggestions.
I will do as you suggest! Thank you!
