I am in need of an edgy, catchy name for a tack store that will be at all the socal and norcal horse shows but I don’t want it to be cheesy… any ideas?
How about…
In-Gate Accessories
Lost-N-Find Tack Shack (Replace what you lost, Find what you NEED)
Bits and Pieces
(ok, never mind, that’s pretty cheesy!)
Make it a mad-lib and ask every horse-y person you know!
The (adjective) (horse-related noun).
ex. The Polished Spur
Of course you could get some that sound like the name of a bar and others that just sound bad (The Moldy Martingale) but at least it’ll be fun.
Seems to me, names work very well. For example, these merchants:
Mary’s (Mary’s Tack and Feed)
Bennett’s (Bennett Saddlery)
Carter’s (Carter’s Hay and Grain)
Miller’s (out of business now, but they were the KING)
Jedlicka’s (Jedlicka Saddlery in Santa Barbara)
Da Moors (DaMoors Tack and Feed at LA Equestrian Center)
and of course
Dover Saddlery
I like “The Moldy Martingale”. I think its catchy and quite humorous too, but then again, im easily amused!
Tack-in-the-Box - okay cheesy but perhaps a bit better than Moldy Martingale…
The Brassy Bit
Tackful Tack
or for the shady side of town
The Greasy Girth
I like the Polished Spur.
Moody Mares
Everything Equestrian
Hat 2 Hoof
Horse Crazy
Rails, Tails & Trails
Tack of the Town. And good luck to ya, because with the demise of the local tack shop business over the last 10 years, you are certainly going to need it.

Add to that the fact that vendors don’t want to sell if you don’t have a brick-and-mortar store outside of a certain mileage radius of the other stores… well, you get the idea. If you can get it going though, I’m sure you will find it fun.
ok
“Shhhh, Don’t Tell” (my husband I was here)

I like both of these, a lot!
Money Down the Drain?
with a motto of
"we ship anywhere in nondescript boxes that don’t look or resemble horse products, and the charge will show up on your CC as the “Jimmy’s Margharita Shack”.

That is such an awesome idea.
I am saving it for whenever I next need to name something.
(I will not buy another horse, I will not buy…)
I like The Polished Spur the best of all the names so far; a close second is Tack of the Town.
Tack of the Town
another vote for “Tack of the Town”. Love the double entendre…
The Tacky Horse - uh, no.
Sublime Equine
Superior Stable Supply
The Stall Mall
The In Gate
(I also like Tack of the Town, it describes your business!)
The Elegant Equestrian
and yes, names do a good job of branding, as long as the associations are good…like Mary’s…Jedlicka’s…Dover…anything but Judy’s…
