A pedigree is only a piece of the picture - sometimes, it has very little to do with their temperament. While I can generally predict within the general vicinity where on the spectrum of “forgiving vs not” for horses, I usually look at how they interact with people to gauge their temperament before I look at their pedigree. Some stallions are known to stamp a more generous mindset – but it doesn’t mean it’s a guarantee when you’re looking at a horse in front of you.
All of these pedigrees would be perfectly fine doing LL jumping/dressage, provided the horse in question is sound. There are no lines in any of these pedigrees that concern me from an athleticism standpoint for LL pursuits.
I would buy the horse that most suits your rider’s goals right now, without you needing to install additional training. I have my own reservations about buying an advanced beginner an OTTB. Unless the horse is boarded with you, and being cared by you. Personally, I don’t mind riders who are novices to green horses getting OTTBs as long as they are in a program, but I think there’s a difference between novices-to-green horses, and “advanced beginners” – who usually do not have the experience to handle things, when things go south. And they can.
Off of pedigree alone I think I’d like Big Jersey Kid the most in terms of type as I like a lot of the horses in his pedigree, but someone ought to pick up that Laser Ladee horse for eventing, if she is sound – that is a pedigree for sport.
