Suggest that you will take the cost of the sleeves off the final amount owed. That sounds like a great solution if no other remedy is offered.
Building sucks. I am sorry you are going through this.

I hate to bring this up but those sleeves are not really the best! I had them installed on a paddock shelter during construction and within three years the sleeves themselves trapped water/snow/ice and caused more damage than good. I had to tear it down the fourth year and repost with no sleeves-now the shelter has gone six years with no rot. If you have any kind of winter or freezing these sleeves will cause more rot than not.
Resolution. The barn is finished. I had to make a few more calls to the owner and left messages and I guess because it was getting so close to payment time he decided to call me. We discussed the problem and he wanted to credit me $50. I said oh heck no. (Kudos to me for standing up to him. Not good at that). So he recommended digging around the posts and putting snow guard around the exposed post. I really couldn’t think of anything else at this point that would be any better so I agreed. I really just wanted the posts protected. They fixed the areas I had problems with as best they could and I paid them in full. I am just ready to finish the inside and get my horses home. Overall, I am happy with my building and ready to add my own touch to it.
melhorse - That sounds like a horror story. I am thinking those are the post guards that have a bottom to them. ?? These are open at both ends. Praying that I don’t have problems like you did. Sorry you went through that.
Thanks to all for your posts. I’m so glad this ended with both parties satisfied.
