Thanks in advance!

I used Dr. Spurlock to do a PPE on my mare last summer. He’s is Lovettsville, Va which looks to be about 45 min from middleburg. He was excellent, very thorough and patient,it was her first time off the farm she was born on, and he was great. Very kind and answered all of my questions.
There’s Piedmont Equine in Middleburg, as well as Kent Allen and crew at Virginia Equine Imaging. Can’t go wrong with either one.
VEI (Dr Allen) or Davis Equine. Great sports medicine practices.

Piedmont Equine. The best!
Kent Allen/Virginia Equine Imaging (in The Plains)
Piedmont Equine (in Marshall)
Harrison Equine (in Berryville, about 35 min from M’burg)
I used Davis Equine for my last PPE but have used Piedmont in the past. Happy with both!
I second Kent Allen because if there is a question mark in a radiograph, he’s the best at talking to you about where that might go in the future. He’s a specialist at pass/fail on OCD lesions, for instance.
Dr Steve White at White Oak Veterinarian in Flint Hill. Piedmont also recommended
Another recommendation for Harrison Equine in Berryville.
Davis Equine. Dr. Chad is great! We use both him and Tim Ober for our vets, Tim is also phenomenal but in Gordonsville, VA and harder to catch up with.
Woodside Equine Clinic has an ambulatory practice up there. I’ve dealt with Ashland clinic, but the vets at the other are good too. Dr. Julia is great with lameness.
Some of the vets mentioned are notorious for “failing” everything. If you’re a pragmatic buyer, then no problem. Otherwise, go ahead and add yourself to the list of buyers who’ve vetted five horses without ever buying anything.
For example, I had one vet “fail” a young horse that I had vetted for reasons: 1) that were presented to me in “Chicken Little” fashion, 2) that really weren’t a big deal, and 3) that worse case, were easily addressed. When I told him “Thank you, I’m going to buy the horse anyway,” he ran to his truck (after picking his jaw up from the floor) and promptly presented me with a release.
Thanks everyone for all the feedback. Gives me a starting place!
