Nevada H/J Trainers & Barns

I’m considering moving to Nevada—ideally around Reno or Carson City area, but since this plan is still imaginary, that’s totally flexible. What’s the hunter/jumper scene like out there? Are there any particular trainers or barns that you’d recommend? What have you learned about keeping horses in this area that would be good to know before deciding to move there?

Edited to add:
I’m open to different types of places, but I naturally gravitate toward a barn that’s known for excellent horse care, offers full board and training, and has daily turnout, good arena space, access to trails, and an adult amateur crowd. While I need the support of a full-service program, I don’t need luxuries like having a groom or a client lounge. And I would love to spend time learning horsemanship skills. As for showing, I’m pretty ambivalent about it—I could be convinced to do some local shows, but I’m not really interested in doing the A/AA shows unless I have a compelling reason to. That being said, I don’t mind the atmosphere of a show-focused program as long as the trainer still values my progress whether they can take me to a show or not.

Julie Winkel, Wendy Brownlee and Ana Jayne are all in the area and great.

Thanks for those recommendations! I’ll research these while other people catch up to your lightening-speed assistance

LovesHorses has great recommendations. It really depends what you want though. There is also Lynn Mullins, a few smaller operations in Washoe Valley, Madchen Giesler in Gardnerville, and the Bowen’s (train out of Maplewood but run their own program). Ana works out of Franktown and while she wasn’t there when I was, I hear good things and she’s married to a dear friend, Andrew, that rides for Maplewood. You can even go fox hunting in my old stomping grounds in North Reno at Red Rock (they do some small h/j shows in the summer - but not an A/AA rated horse show travel program).

Thanks Belmont, that’s such great info! Bonus points for a referral for fox hunting

Editing the original post up top to share some more detail about what I’m looking for.
