New Ariat Terrain PRO - anybody tried?

Wondering if anyone has tried the new Ariat Terrain PRO? They told me at Dover that these are the replacements for the regular Terrain Waterproof.

Just wondering how they fit, wear, and break in? They seem to have a different footbed (it says something about “rebound” on it).

Any comparison to the previous model(s)?

I don’t know but the pink stitching is nasty and the little fringed leather placket under the laces is a throwback that shouldn’t exist. Come on Ariat! I am hoarding Terrain zip ups now…

The regular Terrain and Terrain H2O are still listed in both men’s and women’s categories (and appear to be available for sale on most websites at a normal price/selection of sizes) so I’m wondering if this is just supposed to be a fancier/upgraded model.

I certainly hope it’s an additional model and not a replacement, because I used to live in Devon Pros, and when they “upgraded” those, I had to give up on them, because they totally changed the footbed, and they killed me.

I was off Ariats altogether until I tried the Terrain zips.

The ATS Pro has more cush & better odor protection. The footbed has “agion” antimicrobial which uses silver & copper to inhibit bacteria & keep boots fresher longer (is that truly possible, lol) There’s a wider CushGel pad along the ball of the foot and the rebound action is in the heel; it helps absorb shock. The ATS Pro technology is supposed to keep your feet dry, less stinky & more comfortable on long days. It would be a good choice for someone who gets achy feet & has lower back issues. As for break-in & fit, I’m guessing it will be quite similar to the old models but I can ask the rep on Monday if you’d like and find out if old models will still be available. Not a huge fan of lilac stitching but it’s pretty minimal; the kiltie may be removable.

Oh, now Xan, you know the little kiltie thingy can come right off. And I’ll agree the pink is not my fave. (I never wear pink, TBH.)

But ya, I’m with you on hoarding the zip Terrains. I have kept pairs going for quite a while now by re-waterproofing them and putting in new insoles. Almost like new!

It’s a kiltie and it comes right off. Kilities are what make your paddock boots western.

Would love to find out more and see what the Rep. says. I have tried the regular Terrains, and the “old” waterproof ones (lace up). I could never break in the waterproof ones properly and they didn’t feel right on my foot. Dover said the foot bed was a bit different feel. (yup). got foot and lower back issues, so if these are more cush, support, and shock absorbing, would be nice to try. I hate breaking in shoes/boots though!

You can always try putting in a more supportive insole, or a softer one, or whatever your need might be. I know when mine have compressed beyond use, and if I put in a new set of insoles, they are fairly comfy again. YMMV.

I wonder what happens to all the discarded kilties?

Pretty sure they run off with the socks that go missing.

Yeah the socks and all that lipstick that disappears. They form a giant greasy wooly ball. Somewhere.

Lipstick? Around here it is the Neutrogena lip balm that escapes pockets in the washer and sometimes makes it into the dryer. Sadly. And if rescued from the washer, it just never is the same, has an odd taste/flavor to it. So I usually swap it out with one of DH’s. :uhoh:

I hope you’re not a size 8.5 or I will hunt you down…

Kilts for the mice!

8.5 in US or European? If US, staaaaart hunting!

The pink stitching is a deal-breaker for me.

Now that’s something I’ve never seen.

But no, I won’t trade my zip Terrains in 8.5 for your lace-ups with a nifty gadget. Thanks, though!

I have the Terrain H20 Zip and I love them. They make my feet hot and they are a little hard to fit half chaps over, but LOVE!

They keep my feet warm in the cold weather! I haven’t even had to bring out my winter boots.

I don’t care for the Terrain Pro’s in the OP’s link.

Bleck, I will not buy paddock boots with zippers. I can replace the laces easily when they break but I’ve never had a zipper last the life of a boot, and I don’t want to bear the cost of getting the zipper replaced.
