New Article on Cesar Parra Controversy

“The USEF also came under fire for failing to impose a FEI suspension of a horse ridden by Parra that won the small tour championship at Dressage at Devon that was found to have a banned drug. The failure to impose the suspension was uncovered by a private lawyer a year after the FEI notified the USEF of the decision. The USEF has never explained its failure.”

.
So the USEF didn’t even need this new, poorly crafted rule to nail Parra.
They simply ignored the gift handed to them by the FEI.
Nice.

I absolutely hate when they ignore the obvious by trying to set new rules…enforce the ones you have USEF!

It is called political theater. They can now say who they implemented a “new rule.”

She was just newly arrested in Ocala for fraud and a few other charges stemming from deception. You can Google.

Thanks for the update; every now and then I wonder what she’s up to, and whether she’s changed. Google turned up “FRAUD-SWINDLE-DEFRAUD TO OBTAIN PROPERTY VALUE OF <$20K” (from the June charge; not sure what the March charge was), so it looks like she’s still taking advantage of people.

This illustrates how apparently easy it is for trainers, whether they’re BNTs or relatively small time, to fly under the radar, even after being charged for crimes. How she could be arrested in March and yet still have people hire her is mind-boggling. Between Google and word of mouth, you’d think it would be hard to find clients.
Likewise, that Cesar Parra could abuse horses and people for years and still find business, when there are so many good trainers. Why do people choose to train with abusive trainers/trainers who are dishonest, unless they’re of the same ilk?

I admit, I have never googled any of the trainers I have used.

I assumed (rightly or wrongly) that their local reputation was enough.

I’m not sure that she has any clients at the moment. She had a couple horses for sale and that ads were all “must go right now.” Even if I had no idea of her criminal past, based on what I saw at shows, I’d never hire her to train my horse or give me lessons. Never.

The horse industry as a whole could use a little more due diligence. Grace where grace is deserved, but it’s a haven for crooks, criminals and abusers because it is so unregulated.
