I hope that MB gets a swift and satisfactory settlement.

This whole system in NJ? It’s clearly broken. Awful for everyone involved.

I just scanned through the filing, and will read in more detail later - but one thing jumped out at me. When he expressed concern about the treatment and staff - he was threatened with potential of the hospital filing a false report of assault and battery against a staff member??? I expect they’ll never be able to prove it, but daaaaaaamn - that’s messed up.

Just WOW!
This is a bold and brave man, IMO

May be if the ward was like my wife’s. She was a RN on a psychiatric ward housing county and state commitments, nearly everything was video recorded and retained

In the complaint it was said that they would say it happened in an area without security cameras.

One question I’ve got - why would there be ANYWHERE in a state run involuntary commitment facility that did not have camera coverage? I mean - bathrooms, maybe, but anywhere a patient has access to? That seems like a huge liability.

Directly from the complaint:

  1. Separate and apart from written reports made to GREYSTONE by his attorneys,
BARISONE continued throughout his stay at GREYSTONE to make verbal complaints, verbal
reports of wrongdoing, and verbal notifications to GREYSTONE with such frequency and
intensity that GREYSTONE, in sum and substance, threatened to fabricate allegations that
BARISONE perpetrated assault and battery against a GREYSTONE staff member in a part of the
building where there were no security cameras.

You go Michael! I hope you sue the State of New Jersey into bankruptcy! They messed with the wrong people this time. Thanks @cutter99 and @tryintogethere!

I hope he wins big! I also feel for the patients who are still at the facility. That place needs a giant overhaul.

It’s disgusting that these places victimize people who are supposed to be in their care.

This is some One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest shit going on. Retaliatory measures threatened against a patient who dares to hold them accountable? What a snake pit.

This suit seems more bombshelly than all the bombshells previously promised by the “student.”

That smugly sanctimonious Taylor knew EXACTLY what he was doing, the schmuck.

even if he did it, good luck ever getting any charges to go anywhere. its a mental hospital. they count on the patients not knowing that. What a bunch of a holes. Good for him I hope he cleans them out.

“Bombshelly” it brings a bit of joy into the nastiness. Think of all the other patients that don’t have the support and the voice that MB has, those poor souls.

I hope that this lawsuit shines a continued light on the horrors experienced by MB at the hands of Taylor as well as Greystone.

MB has a voice where many others at Greystone do not. GO MB!!

Go get 'em, Michael!

The use of “student” and “boyfriend” throughout the filing is a wonderful bit of shade.

It’s common to only have them in common areas - hallways, cafeteria, therapy rooms. Private rooms where patients sleep/change and bathrooms often have none.
