Hmmm… two years? Less? He was an unbroke 6 yr old if I recall… he has not been backed that long, six-eight months maybe?

I thought it was an unloading accident. I was there for it. Very sad.

Manni wouldnt load :-/ he was leaving to a new home.

I thought that was amusing. She just looks like she hasn’t trotted poles before.

I don’t really think she’s being “wrecked” while the training is bizarre and doesn’t seem to have any progression beyond lunging with the head down, it isn’t more or less harmful than other training methods.

You can see this mares movement and soundness deteriorate in the three years theyve had her. They blame her “long back”, her breeder, the saddle…

They break horses. I saw it over and over. Sure, there are lots of bad practices that harm horses. And A2R is one of them.

And there are lots of videos of Q being trotted over poles. This isnt her firs time.

How was he doing piaffe training? From the videos shared on this thread… there does not seem to be a focus on collection… much less maintaining impulsion while performing collected gaits.

So how in the world is a horse in this program supposed to progress to piaffe in a logical way?

He tries to start it early on. Unlike Legerete or another sensible strengthening program, he has no progression. Its deep stretch in all three gaits and the occasional attempt at piaffe. Its so lame.

He has a bazillion videos on you tube in which he just goes on and on and on…

With Q for months and months now he has been showing her :“finally being able to maintain working gaits…” so now she is “ready to do real work”…of course, we arent seeing the 'real work ’ yet. And his version of ‘working gaits’ isnt like any ‘working gait’ I can recognize.iHe says its called ‘working gait’ because it is when a horse is ‘working over its back’. Mkay.

It helps to remember he is a failed actor…and his role as Master Horseman is the one that has been most successful.

Wow.

That does NOT sound good.

I don’t see a single video of the Piaffe work or any videos of any sort of collection. Is there proof that he was kicked out of Delmar?

There are several on his youtube channel, with a white horse Contigo, and also with Legolas. Probably others.

Not sure what “proof” is available…everyone who lived here and worked at or rode at Horsepark was very aware. Do I have a letter from the managers of Horsepark? no. He was quite upfront about it and of course blamed jealous other trainers and the manager, of course.

He has quite a local reputation.

If you google Art2Ride piaffe you get many videos.

Bailador was one of the many horses that fell off the radar, poor guy.

I was directed to his website when I complained online about struggling with my horse who insisted on going like a giraffe, even free in the pasture (he’s an older re-trainee, mutt horse I picked up cheap for eventing)

But, after watching a few vids of Will’s horses running around on their forehands I decided he probably wasn’t the person I should seek advice from.

Correct basics worked fine eventually. I know I’m not that knowledgeable, so I second guess myself a lot and sometimes these people (like Will) can capitalize off my insecurities and lack of knowledge. It’s sad that people like this exist, but as long as they’re making $$$$ they’ll keep pimping their snake oil.

For those following the Master Horseman, go get inspired by that beautiful Q in the Best She Has Ever Been, giving at last a true Working Walk.

What an amazing system! Its only been three years for her to achieve this level of competency!

Masterful!

Didn’t watch the whole thing, but did he try to make that horse maintain its “piaffe” (using the term VERY loosely) for the full 7+ minutes?

I saw that too… I’m no expert in Piaffe but that seems like a really long time.

Yes. The horse is so irritated and struggling, how can he do it with his head down so low and for so long?! He never actually does it. Its so bastardized and ignorant. Its so stupid and misguided.

Absolutely it’s awful. Is it ever done that long though? Even if correct? Just curious, I have no experience there in any piaffe.

I can’t stand it when a piaffe looks like a little kid who has to pee.
