I do not need a son of Spectacular Bid…I really don’t…really…right…
Oh man, Buddha Bop is gorgeous.
Hello! He’s making me drool. And me with no money, and no barn…wahh.
What do you think Skipadancin would look like with some groceries?
Sure you do :). Feel free to come to the track to see him tomorrow morning  - you aren’t that far away :D. He is a nice horse - super quiet - just needs someone to love him and spoil him :).
I think quite nice . Don’t let the chain bother you - he was half asleep in his stall when the trainer went to get him for pictures :D.
Now there’s a name that could give a race caller fits; nobody wants to be the one to slip out a spoonerism of Flying Duckstar over the mic.
Nevermind the name; not only is he a hunk, but he’s got Deputed Testamony in the third, plus he’s out of a Flying Pidgeon mare…that bodes well for a new career over fences.
Bump from the 3rd page!
W- I saw the Deputed Testamony and drooled even more. Good thing he’s not a mare! Hehe
Jazknap
Bumping for the Canter Cuties!
Has anyone seen Jazknap in person? He looks like a really nice prospect!!
French Mistress…OMG, what a cutie and only 15.2…PERFECT!
I am curious if dressage folks look at this thread…educate me, how do you look at a horse right off the track and determine if it is a strong dressage candidate.
Or if you can provide examples from this thread.

We actually REALLY wanted him last year when they listed him (and made many efforts to get him… even calling the trainer over the winter), but then the owner decided to keep him and try him on the grass… even though trainer said he didn’t think he’d run. We actually got told he was being relisted a week or two ago (before he was up on the site), but sadly already have one we’re trying to sell… otherwise I’d be calling on him. I also want to say we were told that he’s not on the track, but at the farm chilling out and wouldn’t really need any downtime before getting his retraining started.
Just to add: I’m almost positive that is the same picture he had last year… would love to see a new picture.
Yes Jaznap is on the farm and not on the track right now. He’s just hanging out doing really nothing. We are trying to get a new photo of him from his owner and we check in every week to remind him . He says he’ll try to remember but yes that photo is from last year. Nice horse though!

I have had good experiences with TBs as dressage horses, but others may think differently. It really depends on their temperament, the type of ride you like, and how they take to the work. Conformationally, Jazknap looks to me to be suitable for low level dressage - nice neck set, reasonable slope to the shoulder, good hindquarter with a nice loin connection and slightly uphill build. Now if you look at the mare two listings above him, you can contrast the two and see how she may not take as easily to dressage work. But of course you never know until you get them home!
I just looked at the listing for Frenchmistress - what a cutie! The picture is kind of hard to analyze because she’s standing at an odd angle. So that means you have to go take a look at her for yourself and let us know what you think!

She IS gorgeous and has a great temperment! I see her every weekend just because she is so nice so I always stop by and visit :D. If I had room and money i’d snatch her up along w/ Easter Bunny Boy - also super nice!
There are some that really need to find new homes:
T09-2680-06. TRAINER-OWNED FILLY
Chestnut, 15.2 hands, 6 years old
“Parade Day” anyone can ride her, doesn’t want to run anymore, very easy to deal with, not spooky. Sound but does travel close behind so she has some scars on her. Exercise rider rode by and was very upset she is being listed, loves the mare as she is very sweet.
Asking: $1000 Matthew Clark at 352-875-4044
T09-2651-06. TRAINER-OWNED GELDING
Blood bay with black points, 15.2 hands, 4 years old
“Wilson Hill” was bred “in the purple” in the bluegrass of Kentucky; his sire, Carson City, is one of the most influential stallions in TB pedigrees. Unfortunately for his connections, Wilson hasn’t displayed any of the racetrack talent of his famed relatives, and trainer knows he’s better off as a show prospect. He’s racing fit now, but still very easy to work around - great looks and a bright future with this guy.
Price: $750 to a good home. Call Matthew Clarke at 352-875-4044.
Basically make an offer :). Both nice horses - just not interested in running anymore and need to find homes. :)
I was there the day Wilson’s ad was taken. He is LOVELY!
ImnotlookingImnotlookingImnotlooking… (peep) o crap!
I found one I want to!Can Creve Coeur hitchhike to Texas?
have TOTALLY fallen in love with this filly from the mid-atlantic listings, no name…
she’s quite a drive away from jersey though… would definitely check her out if she were closer! my mind is spinning with plans to try to bring her home!
Thank you. I spiffed him up myself the day that picture was taken (apologies for the flopped over mane; it took us several tries to get that shot because all he wanted to do was eat the grass and smooch me at the other end of the reins!) And that’s actually me riding him in the trail picture (I’ve been working with him for his racing owners). He’s a really nice boy!
I’m still hoping Salty’s Actor finds his person, of course, but there are some newer listings I love.
Just look at Fongtastic! He has a very interesting background: though he is of American lines (Kris S close up!!!), Fongtastic was bred and born in England, and started his racing career there before being sent to the USA in 2004. pedigree and tabulated race record
Elusive Image is another classy old guy. As you can see from his tabulated race record (scroll down), he didn’t start racing until he was 6, and then was raced relatively lightly, his career spread out pretty evenly over the past five years. Looks like he might have some back class there.
Fan of chestnuts with chrome and flaxen manes & tails? Check out Deception’s Child! She’s a little blinky in that shot, but even so I just love her expression – looks like a real sweetheart. Just a baby at age 3! pedigree and tabulated race record (free of Mr. P and Northern Dancer – don’t see that a whole lot these days)
This girl reminds me so much of my dearest Sweet Pea: My Gemsa Gem. Great sport horse lines! I really like how she’s put together too, how her neck comes into her shoulder.
Suffolk Showcase is coming up next weekend! Go have a look for yourself!
I have tried to call several times over the last couple weeks about a horse n the site, and I get a message saying the number is bad. I emailed the CANTER contact for the website but never heard back. Can someone else help me?
Oh dear. That won’t do.
The CANTER volunteers do get awfully swamped and, as a general rule, I recommend not being shy about emailing again if you haven’t heard back. Which email address have you tried: canterne@canterne.org, or canterne@canterusa.org ?
That said, one thing you could try in the meantime (if you know the name of the trainer) is call Suffolk directly at (617) 567-3900, ask for the stable gate, and ask to leave a message with the trainer you are attempting to contact.
