New England Trainer for a Young Horse

Looking for some recommendations from the local folks in New England. Who would be your go to trainer for a young WB in the Boston/New England region? Either full training including board or a trainer willing to travel 3+ times a week?

I’m looking for someone with a clear, calm riding style who isn’t going to be put out by the occasional baby silliness and doesn’t take it as a personal insult when a baby acts like a baby. My main goal is to have a sane lower level horse. Yes, a sane upper level horse would be better but consistent ridability is more important than how fast the trainer can get the horse through the levels. I’m looking for a trainer that has a good history of turning out solid good citizen saddle horses.

Its a pleasure horse training in Orange MA. I also recommend that you subscribe to Warwick Schiller’s videos that detail the process of colt starting…it is quite easy if you follow his progression. Its a pleasure started my young horse using the same techniques. I can gallop my young horse bridleless because I followed this method  best of luck!

I should have been clear - the horse is already under saddle, walk, trot, canter.

Cindy Wylie in Georgetown always has some nice up and coming youngsters. I think she has someone there that rides the babies.

Kerri Arruda(sp?) and Fie Anderson would be my pick, if your goal is dressage.

All of the names given are great for dressage…also Danielle Gavriluk in Dartmouth, MA and Cassondra Dillon is awesome with young horses and dressage … she is at Northern Pines Equestrian Center in Maine. Here in New England we also have Ruth Hogan Poulsen (Jane Savoie’s friend and former student)…she is in Vermont somewhere and takes horses for training.

Katie Robicheaux at Cutler Farm…excellent rider and trainer. She has several youngsters right now

Jordan LaPlaca at Maverick Hill Dressage, outside of Woodstock, VT. He’s a beautiful rider, fabulous trainer (especially for us AA types), and put some wonderful training on a talented youngster my friend owns. His focus is on producing sane, rideable and enjoyable horses.

Wadean Chadwick is in Maine. She is a breeder as well as competitor and judge, so used to dealing with youngsters.

I would also recommend Fie Andersen of Equito Dressage.

Thank you all for the recommendations.
