What do you think of this? It sounds like a good idea to me, but I don’t event.
It sounds like a good idea to me, but I don’t event at that level. I think it makes less barriers to entry, but also at the same time, it requires 3 FEI level events whereas before it was just 1. I feel like it will be a better “national champion” - it will show consistency, but also I don’t think it will make anything feel like a extra special show - which is sad.
I wonder how it will effect the maryland 5*. Currently they run the 3* national championships along side it. If they no longer own the championship, will they continue to only run the 3*. Will they change the offering, or no longer offer anything besides the 5* & YEH? Just thoughts.
The 3* at Maryland is extremely popular and I don’t think this will change that. They would need approval from the FEI to add additional FEI levels and that’s a complicated process so I doubt anything will be added anytime soon.
I was wondering more about the lower levels of eventing and if this might help some people compete for awards without the travel involved, especially for the west coast riders.
I think it is a good idea but begs a question. How do you value a long format versus a short format?
This is for the FEI levels, not the lower levels.
I don’t get the point. Sounds like just another leader board.
There is already a leaderboard/awards for them.
Yes, but the leaderboard approach gives a benefit to riders who go to LOTS of HT and finish well.
This different approach gives a benefit who finish VERY well, but only go to a small number of HT.
The Area II Year End Awards already work somewhat similar to this new format.
I’m glad I didn’t misunderstand. It seemed to be more fair to those who can’t travel great distances or show as much.
