Oh no! I hope he heals up quickly
I get sidetracked like this a lot and then don’t want to finish the main project because it brings less dopamine than the little touches
I’ve promised my friend that I won’t finish that front wall until he’s available to help. He’s the champ of making things look super cute and finished.
And I totally get what you’re saying. I kept holding the new fork holder up to the wall deciding what color to paint it instead of cutting and installing more insulation lol
No work tonight, had a meeting with the neighbors to tell them about the plans for the fence and barn addition. All clear to go
Why did you have to have a meeting with the neighbors about it?
Just wanted to let them know what I was doing and why. Their fence posts are about 50% on my property, I’m not going to ask them to move them but I’m going to be dead on top of them.
Just trying to be neighborly!
Ah, gotcha!
Incredible to me how people don’t know, or don’t even care, about staying in their property line.
While having a fence put in, my twin sister discovered her neighbor’s garden bed was FIVE feet inside her property line. Backstory, she bought this house a year ago, and the previous owners were best friends with that neighbor for 20+ years. Anyway, she went over to talk to them about it, and they went “Yeah, we figured it’d be noticed sooner or later.” Bruh.
It wasn’t an issue, they told her to put her fence where she wanted they weren’t concerned with the garden bed, but still. Bruh.
That’s what happened with the other neighbors, their stuff was encroaching so far I had to ask them to move it back. It didn’t go well. She then said my stakes were wrong, so I hired ANOTHER surveyor to go down that line and confirm the stakes.
Amazing, the stakes were all right!
No work tonight either. It was tax day, so didn’t get home until late. It’s raining too, leaking mildly into the tack room. Good motivation to get up there and get that fixed.
I did replace the blades on the table and the miter saw though. Did a test cut with the new blade on the miter - woo wee, big difference!!
How is your DH’s recovery going?
Ah, changing blades. I got a screaming deal on a wet tile saw a few years back and didn’t use it until this winter. Assembled it all as the manual dictated. Stupid blade kept loosening. Nothing in the instructions about a locking washer for the blade nut, but I went out and grabbed one after nearly turning myself inside out trying to get the thing to work. Boom, installation of the locking washer suddenly turned my !#@% piece of garbage into the screaming deal I had bought. I wonder if that missing part/lack of mention of needing some sort of lock on the blade assembly is why those saws were such a smokin’ deal a dozen or so years ago.
The appearance and pain level are getting worse, but doesn’t look infected.
I forget how to spoiler things on here, but I can post a picture if anyone is interested. It’s pretty gruesome.
After looking at 1/2" plywood and seeing the texture, I decided to save a few bucks and just stick with osb. It will be painted.
Two walls ready. Husband came to inspect my work and informed me I should have only cut to the trim ring. Oops, XL cover plates it is! Haha
Hemming and hawwing over what to do with the ceiling. I think I’m just going to trim back the spray foam and paint it as is. If I want to finish to the bottom of the joists at a later date, I can.
Picked the paint colors out. The dark brown and green will just be for accent/trim. I’ve been looking for an excuse to use that green on something, I think it’s so pretty.
I finally started this thread and am thoroughly enjoying it and am inspired by you OP.
Except for hearing about your hubby’s injury. I cannot even imagine and hope he’s healing well.
My husband can’t leave well enough alone and finished the pipe work for the electrical. Clear to proceed!
Secured the OSB to the back wall. While I was doing that, one from the top row fell and clobbered me in the back. Ouch. Well, that’s why I was securing them, don’t want that happening if a horse jiggles the back wall.
Put firring strips on all the framing on the front wall, so I don’t smash the insulation. Trimming up the door is going to be… “fun”. But it’s ready for finishing up insulation and then osb. The back wall of the tack room will be T&G, but I won’t put it up until I’m done painting to avoid taping it off.
Spent some time cleaning the work area when I was done. Now, aleve due to my OSB encounter.
Ewwie is he in the “it itches and I might die” stage yet? I washed my wrist with boiling oil once and got a bad second degree, like almost got whisked to the burn unit if it had gone all the way around my arm bad, and once the sloughing started and the nerves were doing their thing, I was nearly driven mad by the itch.
He’s there for the bottom part which is more first degree than second, but the second degree part is still just straight pain. It finally looks a little better as of yesterday! But still, a long way to go to being able to leave it unwrapped.
When the itching becomes over the top, ask your dr about applying ice, is what worked best for me.
I do that with bad poison ivy and it really works!
I’ll keep that in my back pocket for when the time comes! Right now the whole arm still needs to be wrapped, else it slides down and binds on the raw part. Good luck to him, trying to scratch anything through a roll of gauze and an entire roll of vet wrap lol
Yesterday was a wash, due to having to do adult things and keep tabs on the mare. The good news - DH’s arm has finally turned the corner in a big way. I’d guess another 4-5 days of wrapping, max. I’m pleased as punch!!
