New farm, let's build some stuff

I must ask, have you been putting up all this wire fencing by yourself!? I know you’re hard core but wow, two hands just does not seem like enough for that. It looks gorgeous though. I hope the job situation improves because I can’t imagine the stress of that on top of how hard you are working at that crazy thing we do for fun (horses). Hang in there!

I wish I had more hands but yes it’s just me! Lots of walking back and forth, and occasional curse words get it done haha

Your fencing looks amazing!

@endlessclimb how or where did you learn to do all these things? I’m in awe…

A couple YouTube videos and being stubborn and unwilling to pay for labor on some stuff. If I don’t do it, it doesn’t get done haha

I’ve found that YouTube and chutzpah will take you quite a ways

Nonetheless, very very impressive work, @endlessclimb!

400 feet on the money. Truck or tractor couldn’t get in there so I made due with the come alongs.

I’ll secure it properly tomorrow.

My poor little 2x4 fence stretcher says ‘please stop it’. Or… maybe it’s smiling.

Secured the 400’ run and did the last of the short runs.

Two more to go, both long ones. One of the two runs I don’t have the tposts in yet for. :sob:

You are AMAZING and should be very proud! I hope you find some previous quiet moments to enjoy it all.

Another long run done, ish. Still needs permanent securing. One more to go.

Before the big rains I did a light tilling of the soon to be pasture, mostly to disturb the weeds.

My lovely neighbor is planting tall decorative grasses right on the fence line. Note that I own the fence completely and the woven wire is about 8" on my land. She’s going to be disappointed when I spray them with round up. Grr.

Have at it. Your neighbour is an idiot. If she was less of an idiot I’d suggest mentioning the fence line to her, but she obviously knows where it is so eff her…

ETA I don’t under stand the whole decorative grasses fixation personally, but I’m a hosta junkie, so maybe I shouldn’t point fingers, but I wouldn’t plant any of my eight or so varieties on someones fence lines.

I’m killing the whole fence line not just her plants for the record. I told her this. The neighbors with horses were trying to tell me that roundup is toxic to horses. Mmhm. I bet it is if they drink it straight, or if I sprayed the whole pasture with it.

The fenceline is getting sprayed. Period. I’ll keep the horses off it for a week, weed whip it one last time before they go back on it, and that will be that.

Finished securing the second to last piece of perimeter fencing. Hung an 8’ gate. Took delivery of some free conveyor belting, going to put it down in the hay area when it’s built.

That belting is an absolute ***** to cut, it’s my very least favorite thing so far.

Oh now I’m excited. Challenge, accepted! Hahaha

My dad cuts it with a chain saw. Not sure if that’s the challenge you are looking for.

I already have a deep seated hatred for a Sawzall, might as well seal the deal.

I’m thinking plasma cutter (with a way to put the fire out).

You can try a Sawzall but my boys insist the only thing for it is a utility knife. It just takes so much force, uggggh. Do let me know if you find a suitable alternative, but I don’t have to guts to use the chainsaw either
