Victoria doesn’t want her kittens exposed to the paparazzi!
They’re all so cute! I want to dangle a feather over the passel!
I’m so flattered. The kittens mewed at us this morning. The mama cats meow for food and attention whenever we visit them in the garage, but this is the first time the kittens have focused on us and mewed. Their vision must be good enough to distinguish objects now.
Ralph has a big mouth. He has spilled the beans on how these photos are posted on some forum for a bunch of horse people to gawk at. He has seen this before with the kittens from last year.
Speaking of… @moonlitoaksranch how is Ralph getting along with his three new adult garage mates?
Ralph is in the workshop, so he hasn’t met the ladies, yet. Once the kittens are weaned, the moms move to the workshop with Ralph to dry up (they’ll be in crates). Ralph has had free run of the workshop for a month now and he loves it. It’s huge and stays cool in the summer and has a heater for the winter. When we open the big doors, he never sets a paw outside. He might follow the ladies out some day, but he’s welcome to stay in, too. It’s a big workshop.
Ok so maybe Ralph isn’t such the blabbermouth I am accusing him of being. As usual, you seem to have a good plan in place.
Aww, thanks! If it works, it was a good plan, lol
She looks like she wants to apprentice as a videographer!
We pulled out the big bed to let the kittens move around more. Also attached a playpen and introduced wet food on a plate. Not quite interested, but the mama cats liked it.
I always thought cats with extra toes were adorable and now we have Polly! Louisa is so soft and shiny that she reminds me of a Russian Blue kitty. Victoria is coming around and we’ll do all we can to make her even more friendly when the kittens are weaned. She is a lovely grey tabby.
Even if all the kittens get good homes, we still get three new kitties.
Zoe has a home to go to when she’s old enough. That’s three with homes! If all but one get homes, we might keep the last remaining kitten, but we’ll be happier if they all get families of their own. We have four cats in the house: two males and two females. It’s a delicate balance and we have to make sure they all get attention.
Cute little pudgy babies!!! Love them with their short little tails!
This is the age I love! They’re so curious and their little tails are always sticking up.
Do I see a kitten checking out the litter box? That’s a good sign!
Yes! One of the grey girls did climb in there. I’ll have to watch more today to see if the mamas are teaching them about the litter box.
Just came in from morning feeding and litter scooping. We sat down in the playpen and the kittens climbed on us. Chloe and Luke ate some of the wet kitten food from my fingers. The others weren’t interested, yet. Afterwards, they all went back home to nurse.
Also, Victoria enjoyed some wet food and let me pet her. She also let me change her towel out, finally. She still doesn’t like the phone, so I waited until I was done to take a picture, lol.
That is some brutal stink eye in that last photo. I mean, that’s a look that could hurt your feelings. Whew!
Some morning pictures. Polly and Louisa are so sweet. They have graduated from semi feral barn cats to sweet lap kitties. I tried to get pictures of Polly’s toes.
I found an internet source that claimed polydactyl cats are not that rare. However, having extra toes on the front and back feet is. I guess extra toes on the front is not that uncommon. When we take over kitten care, I’ll have to count toes. 28 is the world record.
Toes schmose. I’m looking at that adorable little face.
Apparently they’re more common on the east coast, presumably because they were considered lucky and/or better mousers on ships.
I have heard that they originated in New England and, FWIW, Wikipedia agrees.
