New foal with aspiration pneumonia

I have a large filly, now 7 days old, that required assistance birthing. She has been up and down all week, and today was u/s and diagnosed with pneumonia, likely from aspiration at birth. Any one have any experience with this, and what were the outcomes?

No experience at all, but I couldn’t close the thread and not wish you and your filly the best. Hope she recovers and all turns out okay!

we had one that needed oxygen and a lot of other support at birth and for several weeks afterwards. It was likely she’d also aspirated some milk. It was a tough road, but now she’s a healthy 4yo. Jingles to you and your filly!

No experience either, but tons of jingles and please keep us updated. <3

I had one, he got one dose of exceed, then chloramphenicol for ten days. However I saw him aspirate the milk so we were way ahead of it. Good luck!!

Jingles to you and your precious filly. <3

Had one with aspiration pneumonia due to cleft palate. He needed supportive care at the onset, but turned out just fine. Wishing you the very best. Jingles.

Thanks for all jingles! Lungs looked better today and temperature has been down for several days, so hoping antibiotics are really kicking in.
