New Horse, hopefully 9 month journey is over

Finally got a new horse, after retiring my older boy last Jan (kissing spines). Wrote a long thread (see looking for a hail mary for full history). Went back to seller (trading) and found this boy! He literally brought him home on Mon or Tues (I don’t remember) and we tried him on Wed. He was delivered at O dark 30 on Sunday!!!

So without further ado: Presenting Zeus
Azteca, 15.3 hands, 8 yrs old, hunter jumper/lesson background.

or maybe not? how do you insert photos?

Just hit this button and a window will pop up - you can choose files from your device. If you’re on the mobile COTH app, the button is located in the lower right corner of the reply box.

Can’t wait to see him! Was it another straight trade?? That would be even better if he didn’t cost any more.

Thank you Heinz!

CAndy appy -= no not a straight trade but my trainer was whispering in my ear that he was “flipping amazing” and if he doesnt work she thinks we can sell him for more than I paid. But so far I really like him. Have walked him all over property. He gets a little snorty at a couple of places but is still perfectly controllable and behaved in hand.

I am going to try and upload the only short video I have but he does both canter and trot in it briefly

Well they do say being able to roll all the way over adds to the value! He looks lovely.

On a grey, I’d count that as a con :joy::joy::woozy_face:

Congrats on your new horse OP - he’s adorable!

Well, there is that… but maybe symetrical dirt would be less noticeable

I like to think of him as a color changing horse, he goes from grey to bay in a flash!

Congratulations! Fingers are crossed that he works out well for you.

Congrats! If he works out for you anything like my new grey is working out for me, then you will be very happy indeed.

And he’s very good looking. Enjoy!

Congrats, he is gorgeous! I have had my horse almost a year now after a 15 month search. I had to retire my last due to kissing spine as well. I remember this feeling like it was yesterday. Enjoy!

I remember reading that you could tell a horse’s value by how many times he rolled over. You’ve got a really valuable horse there!

Yeah. As a kid, we used to say $100 for every full roll. With inflation, it’s undoubtably $1000 now. :grinning:

Thank you everyone! Anyone have any experience with a dapple grey NOT turning completely white? He’s color is quite pretty right now, not looking forward to losing it. Do any of them stay dapple grey? At what age are they normally white by?

They change colors at different rates. Mine changed to a flea-bitten grey, so not white white.

Mine, too, is going from a lovely dapple to flea-bitten. I love him anyway.

All the grey horses I have known sadly did not stay that way. Love his dapples while you can and if it is any consolation it will happen gradually and you probably won’t notice.
