New Horse Name; bay gelding with eyebrows!

Oh my GOSH is Eugene adorable.

I expect more photos, though. What intriguing, distinguished eyebrows!

I think Eugene is a fine name, despite your big guy not looking a thing like Mr. Levy. You could always use a show name like Caught You Looking or Bright Eyes, then choose a barn name that fits home (like Eugene, Cash (for the aforementioned Johnny Cash, or my personal favorite for big animals, Hank).

If the marks are due to rubs, I feel bad for the giant pony, but they are so darn cute, I rather hope they stay…it will be exciting to see how tall he ends up and what he looks like after shedding out! I am patient…it is barely above double digits (F.) here…congratulations!

I agree it looks like a rub/scar. Perhaps a wire cut? But that wouldn’t curve. Hmmm…
He definitely looks like a Eugene . More pics will be required to convince us otherwise

The only problem with Eugene is someone in my family (that is a human) is named that….

I love his face.
His “eyebrows” look more like war paint to me, they’re white, not black and bushy like Groucho’s and Eugene’s.
They look like they could have been painted on to give his vision a “good spirit” for protection whatever he sees or how he sees it. IOW horse-eating plastic bags won’t faze him. Sort of like a Medicine Hat Paint’s warbonnet and shield. And with his lovely quiet eyes, I’d go with a good name, not a “funny” one.

You’ve gotta name him Eugene, it’s perfect for him.

P.S. - even if you come up with a different name I will always think of him as Eugene when you post about him. :slightly_smiling_face:

Aww I love this. Like an Angel painted his face.

 As a Driver, there’s no way the blinkers could mark his brows that way, unless the winker stay (part that keeps the blinkers separated) may have been in contact.
Unlikely, as Amish know how to fit a bridle & generally the stay is placed so it doesn’t touch horse’s face.
Here’s a pic, the “arms” attach to the top of the blinker on each side:

Also: not at all unusual for an Amish horse to be driven at 3 (or younger). Horses are built to pull more than they can carry. A cart or carriage doesn’t affect their center of balance like a rider does.

Because it’s more on the sides and less on the front, I’m thinking it was from a poorly fitted browband. It’s right where a browband would rub if it was too large and fell down a bit. I’d wonder if when he was small he had a weirdly long face shape and they put the horse bridle on him but some of the pieces were too big and it rubbed.

After being forced to watch this awful movie with my niece over and over, I always wanted to meet a real horse with eyebrows!

Even better!!!

Maybe Johnny Rose instead? (From Schitt’s Creek?)

Love this (since Eugene is out of the question with a family member named that, too weird lol), and love that show.

Oh, come on, only one? I knew two guys who named their colts after each other one year. The colts lived together on one of the guy’s farm after weaning. THAT was confusing!

… I do love Eugene.

If you like the family member: I named my horse after you!

If you don’t like the family member: I named my horse after you!

Just call him Eyebrows, EB for a barn name.

Maybe Amish and Old Order Mennonites are different in Canada? They’re not all top quality horsemen, just as all English are not top quality car drivers

I can see how this delightful contraption would leave pretty much exactly the marks on Mr. Eyebrows. https://www.equi-market.com/cant-rub-off-bridle-adapter/

Also, just today, I saw a video of a rescue (former driving) horse with very similar scars, only worse. It was one of the FB reel things, so I’ll probably never find it again though.

Agreed.
There are certainly Amish who treat their horses with the same care I give my car

& WTFruitbat is that contraption in your pic? :open_mouth:
Looks like someone is unclear on the entire concept of “bridle” :persevere:

Isn’t that dreadful? I can’t remember exactly what I googled but it was something about harness face and scars I think.

High five on the car treatment, sister  I can make all the time in the world for my horse, but can’t find a moment for my car.
