Looking for help with show names for my daughter’s new pony. She’s a large, chestnut with white rear socks and large blaze. She’s adorable. Her barn name is Paisley (not loving it) but daughter does. We like Twinkle Toes for show. Any help appreciated!!
We like to turn show names into a contest somehow at the barn with everyone. That’s how one of our schoolies ended up with the show name Peanut Butter Pudge (barn name Pudge). That one was a part of a barn party scavenger hunt. Others we’ll have people list names out on the lesson board in the main barn and eventually narrow the list down to the best ones. I find people in the barn who know the horse tend to pick the best names!
Good idea! I need a show name for my little mare (can’t imagine showing as Anna). I think I’ll put a picture on the board and ask for suggestions. My barn is full of smart professional ladies and I bet they’ll have some great ideas!
I would suggest Fox In Sox for a gelding, but not for a little girl’s mare. Blaisin’ Paisley?
From Wikipedia:
Paisley is a town situated in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. Located on the northern edge of the Gleniffer Braes, the town borders the city of Glasgow …
There used to be a shop not far from Atlanta called The Bonnie Brae. I thought Bonnie Brae would be a great name for a horse.
Bobbie Sox
Braemar
Paisley Brae
I like tongue-in-cheek pony names :love-struck:
Some of my favorites:
*Inner Tube for a chubby black Small
*Fisher Price for a Medium chestnut with 4 socks
*Sweet Alyssum for a white - not gray! - Medium (personality was anything but!)
*Hercules for a (really)Small white
If you happen to be a Prince fan there’s always Paisley Park for a show name (I Like Paisley too!)
Kids won’t get the reference, or some {ahem} younger adults…

OR, since she’s chestnut, my favorite Prince song: Rasberry Beret
What about “Queen of Scots”?
This is exactly what came to mind as soon as I read your post. Can’t go wrong with either.
Not a fan of Twinkle Toes as it makes me think of Fred Flinstone bowling hah. Paisley I do quite like and it would be cute to play off that. Not that this would be a great name (or if you like off the wall kind of funny things to say then maybe), but one term to describe Paisley prints is the Persian Pickle. Maybe something to do with “Fine Print” or “Fabrication” something off of that. I’m Sew Fancy… sounds more QH, but a spin on the fabric idea. Paisley has at times been known as a “Must Have” Design. Paisley was one of the first Copyrighted designs in Britain. Makes me think of Missy Elliot’s line “Copywritten so don’t copy me”. Too long for a name, but love singing along to that. Fabric also makes me think of Fashion so something like Fashionista.
I’m just throwing thoughts out there that hopefully spark some creative juices.
Paisley makes me think of (country singer) Brad Paisley, so I’d go with one of his song titles: Little Moments
I keep suggesting Fantine or Cosette, two of the characters from Les Miserables, just because they are so feminine, and could be easily shortened for barn names (Fanny, Cozy). I think they would be cute for a pony mare. I like the Paisley names too.
His songs Crushin’ It and The Internet Is Forever crack me up. Now I’m thinking of names like “Insta Famous” and I need to stop. Instant Icon would be cute. This is why I’m glad I don’t have ponies… I could never settle on one name hah.
