Lucky me - just got a new 2015 Ram 3500 Crew Cab with a short bed. It came with the hitch installed from the factory and I just had to drop in the ball and the safety chain attachments. Question - the safety chain attachments are super wide and the hooks on my safety chain doesn’t fit on them. I have a 3 horse gooseneck, no LQ - newer Cimarron. Has anyone else had this issue? I think these factory installed hitches have been available for a few years. What did you do? I need a connector chain link of some sort to attach my chain hooks to - just want to know what you got. Thanks!!
Safety chain specifications have evolved in recent years and you may need to either replace your chains or install new connectors on them that engage with the truck. Your RAM 3500 likely is equipped with stronger safety chain connections that will no longer support the smaller chain terminations that are common for the kind of trailer you have.
