New Rambo and Rhino Blankets

Just saw a new Duo release with a 10 year waterproofing warranty. Was somewhat excited about that especially since older models are always sold out in the size I need. But the bundle is over $600!

I think the Rambo Supremes were the last ones made in Ireland.

I have both and agree that the drop on the Rhino is much shorter than the Rambo. Rhino was just purchased last winter.

Did not know about this! This explains a lot. I have two older amigo blankets that fit my pony like a glove. Then I bought two more in 2022 that are theoretically the same models as the first two and they just aren’t the same! They fit different.

Do you remember when this was from? I just pulled one out I only used for one season in 2019 and it soaked thru the first day. I’m pretty sure I didn’t register it but wow that will be a painful one to replace - was hoping it’d be solid for years to come with such light use.

I called them last winter. I bought the sheet in 2022. It’s worth giving them a call.

Heads up:

Jeffers has the Rambo Duo Force set on sale for over 50% off.

I snagged one for my girl. Hopefully it’s not part of the recent quality control issues.

It’s rare for me to find one of these deals when they actually have the sizes I need! In theory I could have bought each herd member one.

Oh I nearly did. My husband walked in and said “well you could” (buy one for every horse). Maybe I should, hahaha. I kept it to two sets instead of three. A win?

If anyone turns up stellar deals on the optimo liners, please share! Looking for those next.

I’ve been eyeing the new turnout by BOT. It has a similar front closure to Horseware and I have BOT’s latest mesh sheet where the fit actually works for us … if a sale happens, I might have to cave.

I bought a LeMieux stable sheet that a like a lot…so far. The material is similar to the Optimo stable sheet (which I have and dislike because of the fit) and the Rambo liners fit under it. The front closure is similar to the v neck of Horseware. I still put a turnout sheet over it to go out.

You’re the worst!! I’m sending this link to everyone I know because I really don’t need the liners, so I’m trying to resist buying it myself. 100 g is a handy weight though… My 78” TB has a 200 g wug and a very very old ratty no-fill Rambo that I’ve sworn is on its last season every year for the last 4 years.

You could totally keep the blanket & sell the liners! Resale market for Rambo stuff is super!

Enablers unite!

Same. I have all the liners, I just need a new outer. This is the same color way of my Duo that is for sure not waterproof. But I can’t say whether or not they fixed this one and maintained the colors for a bit. I have one of the 50g Duo Force (that came with an airmax liner, no longer offered) from 2021 that is going strong.

I don’t need the liners either, but my WB needs a new 100g and a new Rambo for under $300 is worth it with or without the liners!

Hmm interesting.

FWIW - the 81" Rhino V-close I ordered came in. It’s definitely bigger than the 78" Amigo sheet but the drop isn’t crazy. Due to the double leg arches, the belly wraps more around the horse so it fits with the straps tightened all the way. I think a 78" could have fit fine, but I’m banking on the horse bulking up some and I don’t mind using this as a top layer for really cold days if he doesn’t.

TLDR: Rhino and Amigo sizing (not Wug cut) are about the same. If your horse is particularly beefy and needs a lot of drop, go with the Amigo XL or potentially Rambo.

If anyone wants to sell 78 or 81 liners PM me!

Not Rambo or Rhino, but the drop on the Amigo Wugs I got from Adams is longer than needed. My horse is a respectable 15’3 and he looks like he’s wearing a dress. I went one size up for him in the Wug but geez. Last year his Schneiders was a mini skirt so pick your poison I guess.

Well, I was trying not to buy anything (I talked myself out of it when I saw this a couple of days ago), but my new gelding is too big for 85% of the blankets I own. I bought him a used 78” Rambo (the gazillion year old 78” Rambo I do have is the only one that fits him) and it works but he really needs an 81. So thanks for helping me spend my money? At least it’s a good deal? And at least I tried on the 78 before ordering! lol
