New Show Harness

Since a few other people have posted pictures of their new harnesses I thought I should share mine.

Now that we are finally thawing out, I am getting ready to put Baylee (7 yr. old TB mare) back to work under saddle and continue her driving education. On that note, I picked up her new show harness last week and today I finally cleaned her up enough to try it on. Here are a few pictures:

I need to take it back down and get a few pieces shortened or longer ones made. I am also thinking about having the breastplate changed to 2 buckles on the neck strap.

This was made by an Amish harness maker about 45 minutes from me that regularly makes and repairs show harnesses.

Although I personally am not a fan of how thin the breast collar is, and the single neck strap, it IS a beautiful harness!

Love how shiny it is and all that black & brass… so fancy

Thank you.

The breastcollar is about 3" wide, not that narrow, and will be used with meadowbrook and, once she has some mileage, an antique runabout, so relatively light vehicles. I also show in pleasure shows, not CDEs.

I did take it back for a few modifications including changing to 2 buckles on the neckstrap, that was just a miscommunication when I ordered it.

What a beautiful harness and what a lovely and elegant mare! I love her length of neck, beautiful face and that long thin blaze has always been a favorite marking of mine especially on a driving horse. She will be stunning when you put to, that is for sure!

The harness looks just gorgeous, I love what seems like some shaping for the wind pipe on the breast collar.

Thank you so much for sharing!
