When she was harvesting addresses for her spam she might have noticed the .au on my email and worked out I’m in Australia and not bloody interested.

I’m pretty sure that’s the same one I got the other day. I deleted it. If I get another I’m unsubscribing.
I got a message through FB messenger about this company. I’m advertising some tack through FB, not even a saddle, and she sent it to me saying I could get more traffic. I just said “thanks”. What do you know, the user can no longer be found.

You are sharing your email address in your profile. See?
To change that, go to settings, then general settings and change to “Don’t Allow vCard to be downloaded” and uncheck “Receive email from other members”

I poked around the website out of curiosity and I have to say it looks decent, maybe even better than I expected, but it’s disappointing to hear of the spammy emails.
I share my email because I don’t have a problem with individual members contacting me to chat. Not because I want to receive unsolicited business spam. Totally inappropriate.
I agree completely with vxf111. And this is the first time I have ever received spam from someone on CoTH. I don’t even own a horse any more, so I know this is where she got my email.
You suck, Tack Hunter. And although my boycott won’t hurt you (see above, no HORSES!) you’re still boycotted.
Augh, I didn’t realize that just disabling vcard download wasn’t enough. I thought the “Receive Email from Other Members” checkbox would just let people send me email through the site, not that it would just provide my email address to anyone who clicks to send me email.
Sigh. Thanks for the hint!
