New Tack Hunter site -- getting unsolicited emails

So another poster recently announced her new tack trader/hunter site on here. Not sure if the mods deleted it due to advertising or not. I cannot remember who it was or I’d shoot her a message myself to tell her how I feel about the unsolicited spam marketing.

I have now received an email from this site. When I went to unsubscribe, I was unsubscribing from a “chron” list. The list name was something like “chron 20000 21000” (as in likely Chron member #20000-21000)

Did they spam other COTHers? Anyone know who’s site this was, and if it’s at all legit to send unsolicited emails they got from COTH? Is it even possible?

Aha, have discovered my email was viewable on my COTH profile. Think I’ve changed that now, but still unimpressed at this new company seemingly fishing emails off COTH profiles.

Still curious if anyone else got the same thing!

I did just a few hrs ago. Katy at tack hunter. That’s all I know because I deleted it.

I got the email tonight and one earlier in the week, linked to a saddle I have listed on another website. Stated I’d get more traffic on her site (or something like that). I assumed it was the same person who posted the thread mentioned above.

This was also the site that required sign up but people hesitated because of the lack of privacy policy.

Guess we see where they stand!

YES! I got one of those too, because of a saddle I have for sale on another site!

I have a saddle listed on HorseClicks and have also received an email through the HC message system from Katy at Tack Hunter.

Huh. Funny, I got an email from that place just today… but I haven’t advertized anything ever. I buy off ebay and Amazon and stuff, all the time, just don’t sell.

I was curious how it just said to start selling, and then it had listed a bunch of tack with names of people selling. Nothing about where it originated, who runs the site, nothing. I didn’t set up a long on. Glad I saw this on COTH first.

I sure hope she sees this and realizes her attempts at marketing have backfired, and I also hope the COTH moderators don’t approve of the email fishing. Really wish I could remember her username!!
