New to Area V: tell me all about it!

After a 10 year detour of doing mostly dressage and not competing at all, I think I might finally have a horse that will bring me back to eventing. Last year we moved from OR (area VII) to TX, so not only have I been out of the game a while, I’m in completely unfamiliar territory. I’ve looked through the omnibus for the area, but there isn’t much info right now. I also searched COTH but most of the area-specific threads are 10+ years old, and I know venues and courses change over the years.

So, tell me all about eventing in Area V. Recognized, unrecognized, schooling opportunities, trainers, general info about showing, anything you might think is helpful!

Welcome! If you’re on Facebook area V eventing forum is a great resource! What part of Texas are you in? That will help with some suggestions.

I am about 90 minutes north of Houston. I joined a group by that name a few weeks ago, but it appeared to be mostly used tack for sale posts?

I’ll send you a PM

I’m not super involved in the area eventing scene largely bc I’m based out of Austin and there’s like two eventing barns. To my knowledge, Area V isn’t exactly an eventing hotspot… the “big ones” are Willow Draw, Texas Rose, Snowdonia, Meadow Creek, and Pine Hill, but I don’t know about any small ones. Pine Hill and Snowdonia would be closest to you.
