New to Bethesda MD area: Looking to Lease Field Hunter / Hunt Horse

Hello, I just relocated to the Bethesda area and I no longer have my own horse. I am looking to find something to half lease within 25 miles of Bethesda (prefer to stay in the MD area since traffic is bad, between Bethesda and South of Frederick). I have 15 years experience, use to do the hunters in South FL and hunted with Middleburg hunt a few years ago when I lived in DC. I would like to lease a field hunter with the option to take hunting occasionally. I will take weekly lessons and don’t plan to jump more than 3ft. I am also open to leasing something more green as long as it is quiet and has basic training over fences. I prefer to hack in the fields, trail ride and do a lot of flat work in the ring. I will work on jumping courses only with a trainer.

I would also consider a full lease, free lease if someone has something green but suitable. I will pay for board, shoes but medical up to the owner. If you have anything suitable please email me at ashlandhillfarm@gmail.com with location and details. Healthy half lease budget, just want to find something to ride consistently and love on. Thank you.

You should see if Playland Farm in Union Bridge has anything. They have some nice Irish horses who they half lease, as well as beautiful facilities.

Pleasant Prospect farm has field hunter leases. I think they hunt with Howard Co/Iron Bridge and/or Goshen.

They’re about 15 minutes north of Olney off of Route 97 (Georgia Ave)

Thank you, I really appreciate the recommendations.

I would contact Jennifer Queen at NFF Stables in Poolesville.

Good first event coming up at Potomac Hunt if you happen to have found a horse!

We also have unmounted options if you are just eager to meet foxhunting people in the area. I am co-organizing so I am happy to answer any questions and would love to meet you at our Hound Walk Happy Hour next Friday.

Hi all, I am still looking for the right horse. Keep me in mind if anyone has something suitable for lease.

Check out this horse for lease in Goshen territory (at the Huntsman/Master’s farm): “Swan’s nobility for lease. 16.3 draft cross. I am recovering from a car accident and can not ride for 6 months plus months. He must stay at Taylor made farm in Mt airy Maryland. Has competed up through preliminary and hunts 1st 2nd and 3rd field. Can also whip in. Currently hunts with Goshen hounds. Option of continuing lease once I am recovered. Pm for more details. Full lease would be cost of board, insurance and shoes. I will pay medical.” I can’t figure out how to link it but the lady is named Demmi Cunningham on Facebook.

Additionally, try Bascule Farm http://basculefarm.com/ as their owner is a Master with Potomac.

Look at the horses advertised on virginia equestrian website. Although this thread is a month old.
