Semi custom Tucci boots (40 foot with 41 shaft). Brand new…. Zipped up but very tight. Took 2 steps and one zipper burst! Appears my only option is send them off to have zipper fixed. Anyone else with brand new boots zipper bust?
My shoe repair guy can fix a zipper for $20. If there are no teeth missing, it’s fixable. Maybe try that?
I did have that happen with my Ego7 which are not as expensive as Tucci’s but still not cheap boots. I just sent mine to local boot repair guy, it was cheap and done in less than a day.
Pretty annoying when you spend that kind of money on boots though. So I feel your pain. He did end up putting a thicker zipper on both boots because it happens so often
Where is this magical boot guy? The one in FL charges over $100!
I never had that happen with Tuccis. That’s terrible!
Could you go back to the store your purchased then from and ask for an exchange, and then they could send them off?
I know Tucci will do replacements but you do have to send them all the way back to IT, which is such a pain.
In SoCal. He’s not a boot guy either, just a shoe repair guy. Nothing equestrian about his business to jack up the prices. He charges $80 to replace them.
When I needed zippers replaced in some half-chaps, I went to a guy who specializes in making custom motorcycle gear - chaps, vests, saddle bags and such. I had driven by his shop before and thought, “what the heck, I’ll stop in and ask.” He was inexpensive and did a great job.
Our local guy is a “shoe repair” shop. Zipper replacement is $40, does a great job. I even had him make an adjustment on a high end bridle and I was very happy
When I get new boots, I always replace the zippers with “work” zippers. I got tired of the original zippers breaking.
My first pair of custom chaps (for showing western) I had made at a biker shop. They were well made, but I shouldn’t have paid for them upfront, it took longer than I was told to get them made.
