New Whipper-in

I just got promoted to Whipper-in! Yeah!
Now I need boots and a Scarlet coat. Any suggestions? Middleburg Tack exchange doesn’t have my size right now.
I need a size 8 coat and size 7 boot with a narrow calf.

Congrats!! I’m sure your spring and summer will be busy. Wishing you the best for the season ahead.

Hey, congratulations!

Clearly your a petite little thing

You do know that means none of us will help you, right?

You should already have boots.

Yes I am petite! I also ride a pony!
My whip was made in England for a child! UGH!
I do have Ariat Field boots but I don’t own dress boots.

I have a child’s whip too

And if you’ve been wearing field boots with your formal kit, it won’t matter, ebay is your friend, you’ll find some.

Love a good hunt pony:)

Congrats!

But honestly I don’t know if we should be happy or sad for you!!
Whips are such under- appreciated peeps and so vital to the hunts. And they work soooooo hard and ride so hard and their horses work so hard and are saints to boot. I surely do hope you like your huntsman cuz sometimes things get rough in the heat of the moment! Be brave seesta!! Go forth and be wonderful!
A Hearty Congratulations and Best Wishes for many years of toil!!
Report back now ya heah?!!

I have a pair of vintage Marlborough field boots that are about that size. PM me if you’re interested. I paid next to nothing for them, don’t even want anything for them except to cover the cost of shipping. They’re a bit shorter than modern boots.

If you’ll be wearing a scarlet coat, go ahead and bite the bullet and call Horse Country. They’ll have your size in your preferred weight. You can try calling Dehner and see if they have anything in their oops room that will be significantly cheaper but may not be exactly a custom fit.

Dehner has an “oops” room? I’m hallucinating, right?

OP, I wish you were looking for field boots - I have a pair of Parlanti boots sorta-size-seven with zippers in back - too narrow for my fat calves.

I second Horse Country - but if for whatever reason that won’t work, my suggestion is to look at what The Hunting Shop has to offer.

Do yourself a favor - bite the bullet and buy the good stuff. Buy from Horse Country or the hunting shop - they both have quality goods that will last a lifetime. Buy cheap and you get cheap. And hunting attire, especially for staff, needs to be tough. I’ve bought from both places (Hunting Shop has more beagling attire for which I am forever grateful) - but both will have excellent quality attire for staff.

Aigle makes a good quality rubber boot with brown tops that can work well for those super mucky muddy days. Those might save some wear on your good boots.

Congratulations and condolences on your promotion. If you don’t know what I mean, you will soon.

I’ll second the congratulations and condolences as well. I have filled in as a Whipper-in on many occasions and don’t enjoy it at all. Most people I know that whip really love it.
