New zippers on tall boots-- where to go???

[SUB]I have a pair of La Mundial tall boots.

The zipper broke today- won’t “grip” and make the teeth go together at the start/bottom.

DH says I need them torn apart and possibly replaced.

There re is no one local and I’ve heard bad things about LM’s customer service lately but it was fine in 2004 when I got the boots.

Is there anywhere reputable I can send them to get them fixed ASAP??? I’ve got a clinic in 2 weeks. I’m also concerned about the fit changing with new zippers. Is that a problem?[/SUB]

I am not sure if they can turn them around in 2 weeks but try Pisano and Sons.

Good reviews?

Pisano does excellent work. They will ship your boots back to you not only with the zipper replaced but totally reconditioned; you won’t recognize them! They can even add gussets so that the fit around your calf is more “elastic”. But asking anyone to prioritize your work to the front of the line should cost a premium, if they are willing to do that at all.

I have been able to get boot zippers fully replaced at any of my local shoe repair places in all of the various neighborhoods I’ve lived in. It’s really NBD and I usually get mine back within 3-5 days. I’d start there.

Me, too. Most shoe repair shops can replace a zipper with no problem.

Yes, good reviews

Thanks. My “local shop” guy has done some repairs for me and although a few other people have had him put gussets/fix zippers in tall boots, the repair work he did for me was serviceable but lacked the finesse I want with my tall boots. In other words; he put new zippers in my half chaps and shortened some bridle straps for me. They’re sturdy and safe but the stitching was coarse and ugly.

So I’ll be calling Pisano. I can ride in my half chaps that weekend if needed, and any which way I need my zippers fixed.

Now, do I get the ONE fixed or both? Hmmmm

So … How does one best ship a riding boot? I have the original box they came in by I only need one zipper repaired- does anyone have a clever idea for a cheap, but safe method. I would assume you DON’T fold them EVER.

woody’s of wellington did my zippers and shipped the boots back to me.

I had mine done by Pisano’s and give them 100 stars out of 10  I will never send my boots anywhere else!
