Newer Passiers - reviews?

Forgive the bit of a cross post from eventing, but wondering if anyone has experience with newer Passiers (the old school won’t work because the gullet’s too narrow, unfortunately). I’m looking specifically at the Sirius and the Freemove Dynamic (https://www.passier.com/en/saddles/dressage-saddles/freemove-dynamic/ ), which looks like an updated version of the old saddles so might be just what I’m looking for. Just lower level stuff - the horse is an eventer and a TB but pretty beefy especially in the shoulders and has developed enough muscle behind his withers that my Butet no longer works. He likes his Antares jump saddle but their D saddles are deeper and have bigger blocks than I like.

TIA!

I have ridden in Passiers pretty much of every ilk, from the oldie moldies to the newer models like the Hubertus Scmidt. I have found them to be really good quality. They fit a ton of horses and they have short tree points, which helps with a big shouldered, big moving horse. They aren’t en vogue any more, for whatever reason. They don’t come in barbequed eelskin or glittered snakeskin with blocks the size of Wisconsin, but they are good, user friendly saddles that will last forever if you take care of them. I did reach out to Passier last year to find out if the trees can be adjusted, and Passier advised me they can be adjusted up to 40 (!) times. I did see a Freemove Dynamic on eBay if you are looking, but I don’t remember what size it is. There are a couple basically brand new ones on there.

I ride in several Passiers that are about 20 years old, so definitely modern black dressage saddles not brown pancakes! Just love them.

I haven’t needed a new one but the one place in Canada that sells them has prices around $4000 CAN (Bahrs saddlery) new. Which is low compared to many other brands and means 2nd hand won’t be more than $2000.

LOVE modern Passiers. I had a Compact that I regret selling :stuck_out_tongue:

Do you guys know if Passier is making any plain “center rigged” saddles? I just can’t warm up to saddles with tree point billets or the like, but I do love the 40-year-old Passier I just bought on eBay. Like an old friend.

You can get a saddle fitter to switch the billets easily and affordably especially if you are getting it restuffed at the same time.

My Relevant years ago had regular (center) billets.

After two years of searching for something both Pony and I like, I ended up with a Passier Corona that showed up on consignment at our tack store. I’m not sure how old it is but it is barely used. The back billet is not a V billet. Now I’m blanking on if the front hangs regularly or is a point billet.

The twist is perfect for me. It has a wide channel that leaves a perfect dry spot along Pony’s spine. The panels are sort of dropped in front.

I only just got it but during the trial Pony seemed to like those features of it and was nice and forward.
