Have to laugh, but could not help but think reading this that Kentucky has had great fortune scooping up VA talent, both horses and people.

Good read thanks for posting. A lot of people think of Virginia as an “also ran” horse state. But in fact has produced a lot of great horses over the years and a lot of great horsemen. OMO it is one of the top all around “horse states” in the country.
The writer Teresa Genaro worked for the Lexington Herald Leader for years. Until like most print news papers they cut back on or out full time “turf writes” a few years ago.

Can’t argue.
Thanks for the article.
Agree on Virginia - always 2nd nature to me to think of it as tops in horse country and TBs, particularly with memories of Secretariat.
Jill’s mother and sister live a little ways up the road near Charlottesville. I had the opportunity to meet a visiting Jill some years back at one of the fixtures as her mother was still involved in a hunt club. My memory failed me at that moment, as it often does to this day, and as I searched my thoughts for a name, I blurted out, “You’re the TVG lady.” Jill gave me wide healthy smile and replied “that’s me.”
Very nice and personable lady, I thought then.
As for VA, sadly, the Thoroughbred industry is but a shell of its once healthy self. It will not take long before its history is out of print, but thanks for the kind remarks.
