This 16 day old TB (by Tiznow) is about as nice as any breeder could want, hope for. Wish it was mine! Bred by a friend in Kentucky.
Agree, Gumtree- Love that shoulder for sport/scope.
Wow, I noticed that shoulder too! And that’s quite an engine there in back for one so young.
If you’re okay with sharing, who’s the dam?
But TB breeders are only breeding for speed and all of today’s produce is garbage for sport.
In reality, the top Kentucky sires combined with the best mares are producing LOVELY athletes by any definition. You just won’t see many of them end up in a sport horse barn… Cozmic One being a very notable exception. Many offspring of Tiznow, MDO, Bernardini, Tapit, etc are well balanced for sport disciplines, they just also happen to be successful race horses as well.
Yup, he’s got a hip a mile long.
He is out of a mare by Corinthian who is by Pulpit out of an Easy Goer (Alydar) mare. Corinthian was a multiple Grade 1 winner, Breeders’ Cup Mile. Went to stud with a far bit of expectations with his breeding and race record. Didn’t live up to them. He now stands in Turkey.
“TB breeders are only breeding for speed and all of today’s produce is garbage for sport”
Wow, that’s some statement of fact. Casting an awfully wide blanket. I am and have been a student of pedigree, an adviser and breeder. I beg to disagree. Florida TB breeders lean more towards breeding for early speed. But IMO and experience they are the exception not the norm.
I live in the Unionville Pa area, as the COTH likes to call it, Mecca for Eventing in this country. LOTS of Eventers ride/use TBs around here. They can’t all be wrong.
The purpose of posting the picture was not to debate TBs verses all other breeds. If I hadn’t added “TB” no one would know what breed it is. I posted the picture to give people an idea/look of what an exceptional foal looks like regardless of breed.
What a handsome baby!
opps, never mind than. Hard to tell by written word, no body languish. Plus being a TB guy I’m a little sensitive.
That foal looks like a mini me of the stallion. Looks like a lot of his babies go for 2-$300,000. Not bad for 50K fee.
Very much tongue in cheek!! Sorry I didn’t communicate that clearly. I am a huge TB advocate, have a barnful of them. Incredible pedigree nerd from working a few years in the industry (broodmares, sales prep, sales) with some Lexington horsemen you know well.
Bred my advanced event mare to Sightseeing 6yrs ago because I didn’t like what else was offered in the eventing stallion market. Quite pleased with the now-5yo, though he didn’t get the height I’d expected from sire (and Pleasant Colony).
Currently have an intact son of Bernardini, competing at training level with hopes of prelim this year. Sitting in the barn aisle foal watching, waiting for his first 2 foals (out of TB mares) to hit the ground soon.
Yes, I VERY much believe in what good TB breeders are producing. Always enjoyed your posts, by the way!
Sorry about that and thanks for your understanding. Glad I wasn’t too snarky, lol. Not very familiar with all the emojis and their meanings. I only know and use the smiley one. Most are too small for me to see anyway.
Thanks for the compliment, you’re too kind.
Lovely foal. I really like a lot of the Tiznows I have seen.
