Nice pictorial about Cheshire Hunt in Washington Post

I love the last pic of the hounds crowding around the kennel door!

Great pics! Those hounds are a handsome lot.

What type of tie-down or nose piece is that in the photo of the honorary whip?

You beat me too it OP, lol. The “formal” name is Mr Steward’s Cheshire Hounds.

The Hunt is refereed to as just “Cheshire” or the Cheshire Hunt.

Our farm is only a few miles from the kennels The title picture is where Plantation Field Event is held and our spring Point to Point.

It is not in Kennett Square it is in Unionville.

The caveson is the type that they used on Idle Dice many moons ago- it’s intent was to keep the horses mouth closed. Loose like that? I have no idea- but perhaps that’s why they have the attached flash noseband on there. It looks like an ugly hodgepodge. How about that browband!! I do like the hole in Mr. Neilson’s breeches.

The stitching on the tear looks like my mind of sewing. But it’s evidence of a tight ride thru sine branches!

That noseband is similar to one from a curb I used years ago. It put a hard lever on my horses nose, he would bolt and that bit gave me the courage to work him thru that. Bolting is a nasty.

Thank you for sharing this. What lovely photos.

I have to agree, I totally love the last photo of the dogs standing at the door.

Don’t be calling them “dogs” around some hunting types, lol. Hounds not dogs.

Though I always find it amusing to wind up some by saying, “those are really nice dogs”

Oops. And I knew that. Hounds. They are hounds. I love the photo of the hounds.
