Nice quality rolled leather bridle

I currently have a BR brand rolled leather bridle and I quite like the look of it. It was around 90 Euro purchased without the browband. I wish more bridle makers sold without the browband because I already have a collection. Anyway, the quality is just ok, and fair for the price. Since I’ve decided I like the look, I’d like to get one that is of better quality because I am a leather snob.

I don’t care for the ones that fasten at the top of the head at the poll. I’d like to stay under 300 Euro/dollars. I will of course pay for quality. I know that PS of Sweden makes one, and I already have their rolled reins. I like the reins because they are nice and thin for my small hands, and the quality is ok. Their bridles are quite pricey and I’ve heard mixed reviews, but I have never seen their rolled one, or any, in person.

I am currently looking at the Schockemoehle Malibu and have found it for about 200 Euro. Any insight into the quality of that brand?

Any suggestions are appreciated. [h=3][/h]

I had a rolled bridle by Schockemöhle a couple of years ago and I dont think the leather quality is great.

Yeah, actually, you’re not the first person I’ve heard say that. So if that’s a trend, then I’ll probably eliminate they option. I liked the design, and the price wasn’t bad, but I’m looking for something nice that will last and, well, just feel nice

I’ve had a few BR bridles and I agree that although they are pretty, the leather quality is mediocre. I recently bought a rolled Dy’on double bridle and the leather is beautiful. They also make a snaffle bridle. I ordered mine on Divoza.

Oh yes Dy’on I did see their bridle on Divoza. I would just drive to Divoza and see what they have but it’s atleast 3 hours to the closest one…and I’m not they dedicated. I’ve never held or looked at a Dy’on bridle in person. I haven’t heard anything negative yet.

Have you checked out the Albion KB ‘Super Snaffle’? They have some nice features, and are somewhat customizable, and the leather is lovely and will hold up well.

Passier. I got both snaffle and double (Neptune and Icarus I think) a couple years ago from Divoza delivered to US for under $300 each using coupons. Not sure if they still carry them at Divoza but the leather is beautiful, gets complimented often, and wears very well.

With rolled you really want a high quality bridle; the process to make the bridle rolled is easy to unravel once the glue and threading goes - I would pass on Schockemohle.

There aren’t many good rolled bridles left IMHO. I would go with Passier, or Kieffer.

I like D’yon but the price is, my personal opinion only, disproportionate to the quality. Same with Otto Schumacher – at that point you are paying for the brand, not the quality.

I have an incredible rolled leather bridle that ended up being too much for my mare’s delicate TB head.
It’s a Premeiro or something like that.
I used it for 1 week. It has a lo ely padded PATENT crank flash.
However, it does buckle at the top. I like the feature. It allows for no buckles on the face so if your horse has a gorg face it shoes it off.
Best leather I have ever touched. I’ve been meaning to put it up on the fb dressage tack sale page.

I can’t seem to get the pic to load, but It’s a Premiera Monaco. New, $215.00.
Much much nicer quality than PS.

Oh, yeah, I’m familiar with the brand. I can get that bridle for ~87€ here. Not crazy about buckle on top, but I’ll take a look.

@beowulf I agree that the quality is important with rolled. Hence my careful search. I have handled a Passier bridle in awhile.

I have a gorgeous rolled Stübben. It is a double bridle and I bought it in Europe when I had the chance a couple years ago… even though my horse was 4 at the time and years away from needing a double!! The quality is incredible.

Equipe makes one that is really beautiful and well made.
