nijinsky/blushing groom mare on CANTER

To my eye, this is a nice-looking girl. Some parts of her pedigree sound pretty awesome (nijinsky and blushing groom are a good nick, right?), but some other parts sound not-so awesome (lots of northern dancer, native dancer, mr. prospector, all being discussed on this forum a lot lately as lines to be somewhat avoided).

I am just trying to do my pedigree homework, and I thought the pros and cons in this one were a bit of a stumper. I am interested in producing jumping talent, if that helps.

What do you think?

I think there is a lot to like about the mare. Do you remember Cryptoclearance, the dam sire? Placed in all three legs of the Triple Crown. A very good horse.

Here is the sire, Brahms. He stands in Louisiana. The filly looks a lot like him.

FWIW I love Brahms.

I’ve seen a bunch of them, both in our rehoming program and at the track, and there’s just something I like about them. Nice movers, balanced builds.

I’m not a breeder or anything, I’ve just run into a bunch that I’ve liked, only to find they were all by Brahms

For riding definitely. For breeding for sport TBs, I wouldn’t. For breeding to WBs, maybe.

Nice looking mare BUT Hugely prefer this filly

Still has the unavoidable ND(less ND) and MrP(less MrP) but the pedigree is better balanced with sport TBs and a better bottom line for sport. Remember the pedigree of Fast Queena as that is the future. I do conceed that the MrP and ND comes from more sport type than other ND and MrP offspring.

Oh boy Barrister Bay!!!

Looks fabulous AND great pedigree for sport…why can’t HE be a stallion. PatO

I think she’s pretty cute, nice & round for being at the track  I don’t like the Crytoclearances I’ve seen, athletic let-downs. Can’t jump out their own way, but huge stride & athletic creatures. However, she isn’t that type at all, looks like her sire, so might be worth a look. I think she has the potential to throw all over the place with regard to type, so something to keep in mind when breeding. The Cryptos I’ve seen were 16.3-17+ with splindly legs & average bodies, quite contrary to herself & sire.

I made my comment above, even knowing that she is double Wild Risk through Derring Do, who is a sterling sport line, as well as Blushing Groom, who is also a sterling line for sport.

There is a mare listed for the November Keeneland sale that has similar names to the one in the OP… but I personally am fascinated by the damline on the one at Keenland. Anyone looking for a possible TB bm??

Its All Academic

northern dancer, native dancer, mr. p not so good
really? why? I’ve always thought of these as good things?

She is very pretty.

wow, I think the only way I could like her more is if she grew 1 inch and her price dropped!

I had a mare by Albert The Great who had the Exact. Same. Head.
Sweet as the day was long, but her racing days were not kind to her - we had to put her down this summer.

Iron horse- It’s the end of the meet and these trainers would take quite a low offer in my personal opinion. Someone needs her:D

Thank you all for your insights!

She looks like a nice jumper prospect to me-- very tempting. I agree, someone needs to take her home!

I have a 9 y/o ottb gelding with crypto also as the dam sire. I find goodmornings description to be very accurate, in my boys case anyways. He is not the same type as the mare though

I didn’t want to know that!

My DH is happy to know that while I have an extra stall and we got a good hay crop this year, alas, there is nothing left in the kitty for purchases.
