NJ COTH Weekend... or Week - 2011?

Calling all Hunting Princesses… and our Founding Queens,

Our Virginia expeditions have been so much fun, I would like to extend an invitation for all to come up to good ole’ NJ for an equally outstanding time!!! Our runs may not be as long as those in beautiful VA, but I can promise that our views and territory to be equally impressive. Stabling in the area will not be a problem, and there are a number of lovely hotels and B&B’s nearby. Hunter’s Rest, would you be interested in bringing a few of your wonderful hirelings to NJ???

I’m thinking the week between Opening Day (10/23) through our Halloween Hunt on 10/30 (in costume of course) would be most appropriate. I can promise you our Tea’s are AMAZING - especially our Halloween Hunt! We can also do a beach ride at Island Beach State Park on 10/29!

So, what say you???

Road Trip!!

The photos of your last Halloween hunt need to be viewed again, as they were, ummm… remarkable:eek::winkgrin::lol: especially the gorilla in the polka dot bikini…:eek:

Of course, if I 'm there for the halloween hunt, I don’t have to buy a plain black hunt coat, which is budget consideration… On the other hand, I think that is ODH opening meet, so Hunter’s Rest may have to lead the field in Va…

It would be lovely if BigBayTb could hit both AVH and the Va hunts, as long as she and her friends are coming east.

It sounds wonderful, but I will have to wait & see if HR is bringing horses. Even if I manage to purchase a trailer & practice with it a bit, I don’t know if I would be ready to haul that far by October. I’m also not sure my pony can be in shape by then! I rode her last night and today, and she is sadly out of shape and very tubby. I may even have to indenture her to the lesson program so she can get in more work than I have time to give her.

Yes I’ll bring horses!
Has to be before that, though. Our opening meet is probably 10/30, so can we not do a cubbing week/end, before your opening?
I will bring a full load - 4 horses - 1 for me 3 to share!
Give us some ideas of where we can stay - I have a friend at exit 1 who I can stay with maybe, but how close is that?

No Problem!

HR, should we do 10/19-23? How does this sound - 10/19th - AVH’s last day of Cubbing, Island Beach State Park on the 21st and kick off the start of formal season on the 23rd. Or any combination thereof.

Whicker, I’m sure we can find you a loaner hunt coat if needed! Considering how you’re the one who’s always GIVING - it’s time for a little retribution! I can’t post photo link on COTH, but I’d be happy to forward the Halloween pics to anyone interested!

Hinderella, it sounds like you’ve got a ride… whether it be your shiny new rig, or one of HR’s lovely mounts - You are covered!!!

I’ll bring it to the Master’s attention at our Board meeting next week, so we’ll have plenty of time to ensure it’s a memorable trip for all those traveling from near and far!

I can also plan a “Game Night” at my farm. Throughout the bitter cold winter, my boarders get together and play Gymkhana type games to keep us all motivated! It’s a heck of a lot of fun, and everyone gets so competitive.

More likely scenario for me/my horses will be to meet at Island Beach for the beach ride on the 21st (I’ll come to my friends’ in so. NJ 10/20 and spend the night). How far from Island Beach to your 'hood?
Then play days 10/21 and 10/22 and hunt 10/23. Would likely need to leave after hunting on Sunday - what time is your opening meet and how long from there to here?
Perhaps your peeps prefer a gang of us to come to a cub hunt the previous Sunday, 10/16 instead of clogging your opening day? I’d suggest that may be more acceptable to your masters.

PleasantMeadow,
Check how other posters link to a photo website that has public viewing. Those Halloween costumes are spectacular as is the haunted house hunt breakfast. You all know how to show an excellent big grins time!

Sounds like fun…we’ll have to see what dates though. I Manage a horse show the weekend of 10/15. How much further is NJ from hunters rest…that might be too much of a haul :frowning:

Hunter’s Rest, I’ll check with the masters to see which dates they prefer. Island Beach State Park is about 80 miles south of our hunt territory.

Bigbaytb, we’re 4.5 hrs. north of Hunter’s Rest:eek:

Whicker, the Halloween photos are a pdf file forwarded to me by the amateur photographer that frequently shoots our meets. Therefore, I don’t have individual photos that I can put online in a photo album. :frowning:

Phooey!
I was really hoping that the gorilla would grace our pages…There is nothing like a grinning gorilla in a polka dot bikini on a hunt run!!:eek:

I may just come up back up for that Halloween hunt… I wonder if the Dressage Diva would mind if we came as Carmine Miranda.

The headdress of fruit would sustain us during the hunt… That would call for rum in the pink sparkley flask…

Island foxes?

Do you think we will get to see the island foxes at the beach ride?

I loved the pic of the one trotting along the road with a hamburger bun in his mouth…There must be some good barbeques there!

Mr. Reynard OWNS Island Beach State Park - just ask him.

Friends of mine went for a ride on the beach a couple of days ago. They too ran into the resident fox and was surprised by his boldness.he sat by the side of the trailer and waited to see if a crumb or two would fall out. Little does he know what his cousins deal with all around him.

Here’s a link to their beach ride video. I’m hoping they too will join in our weekend soiree! The two ladies are dying to come out with us, but haven’t had an opportunity thus far.

Whicker, I’ll send you the pics again from Halloween last. Let me know if you’re able to get them uploaded somewhere for viewing  Oh, I hope you come up for the Halloween hunt as Carmen Miranda… I have a feeling Ms. Ruby will put on quite the dance routine in company, and the sparkly flask will be quite the perfect accoutrement!

One of our members is putting together an “End of Season” video with highlights for 2010. I can’t wait to see it, and will most certainly share…

I’m thinking about burning a lot of vacation time in October.

Just sayin.
