NJ Foxhunt Clinic - Amwell Valley Hounds - 7/23

Ladies and Gentlemen,

On July 23rd AVH will be hosting a “How-to” Clinic starting at 9:00 am, at Plum Broke Farm, 12 Seabrook Rd., Stockton NJ 08559. For those interested in learning more about foxhunting, and live in the area do come out and join us.

I can promise you this, there is no finer a group to learn the fine art foxhunting from than the ladies and gentlemen that hunt with AVH (at least in my humble opinion). After the intro. clinic we start Roading hounds (hound exercise down country lanes and across beautiful rolling fields) the following day. It’s a great way to expose your horse to hounds from a safe distance, work on your mounts, as well as your fitness before Cubbing begins.

Amwell members really take the time to help guide “Newbie’s” out in the hunt field. I was one of the panic stricken Newbies not too long ago, on a terrified dressage horse that took a while to adjust but is now 100% trustworthy in the field and enjoys our early morning outings.

Oh, man… so excited about this.

Unfortunately I can’t go to the clinic (I’m actually moving to the area in a couple weeks, horse in tow, but right now I’m still in Michigan). I looked at the website, though, and it had the schedule for “roading” with the hounds, and I see that it goes through August. Sweet!

This looks really, really fun. Do folks like me who want to tag along just show up at the designated place/time, or should I contact someone in advance? The website doesn’t say anything about dress for this–what is appropriate?

I guess I could probably just contact AVH directly to ask these questions, but I got so excited by this post I was compelled to reply. I would love to be this year’s panic-stricken newbie on a terrified horse!

Time Change for Clinic! Early start due to HEATWAVE
