NNER - Northeastern Nevada Equine Rescue -- Anyone familiar with them?

There is an interesting discussion about this rescue in a Facebook group so I wanted to go outside the group for a fresh perspective.

They do not have their own 501©3 (not sure why) but claim they are under the umbrella of another rescue which is allegedly not in good status with the IRS:

This is also the rescue that took in a lot of the Dann Sisters mustangs and apparently they don’t have enough money to keep them in good health.

The fundraisers they have started seem to mysteriously disappear, which is a definite red flag.

I’d love to hear more from people who are familiar with them.

If the original paperwork submitted to the IRS for the registered rescue did not include NNER umbrella’d under them, afaik, this is not legit to do.

That’s my understanding of how it works… the initial paperwork to incorporate rescue #1, has to include the other, ‘umbrella’d’, rescues to be actually covered.

well, they do offer to adopt out ungelded, unregistered colts.

Their facilities are overcrowded.

Comparing condition of horses on arrival vs. horses several months after being rescued is an eye opener.

Training of horses after arrival is non-existent; and most have never been haltered.
Worming?
Vet?
Farrier?

-on unhandled horses.

NNER changed name some time back to Scarlet’s Legacy…well she just got busted in TX and 150 horses were seized.
