I wanted to know about the No added iron …I saw someone mentioning on another fb page about feed …particularly Tribute Kalm N EZ that ferrous sulfate and iron amino acid complex is in fact added iron …otherwise it wouldn’t be listed in the ingredients ?? Can you explain this ?? This person was promoting I’m assuming their feed Cyrptoaero and was happy it made the top 3 list of horse feeds but was slamming 1st& second place which was Buckeye Gro N Win first place and Tribute Kalm N Ez in second followed by Crytoaero in third …my thought was that the iron was intrinsic and was only listed as such ??
Iron needs to be listed on the feed tag in ppm.
I find it mildly amusing that I just looked and found a value of 153 ppm for Cryptoaero and the KalmnEasy came in at 125 ppm.
For some reason, I’m unable to access the Tribue website at present (plus I need to leave for an appt. w/ my eye surgeon), but I’ll likely come back and poke at this later.
I will leave you with a story though–years ago I was talking to a sales rep for a feed company, and complimented her for promoting her product without trashing her competitors.
She told me that shortly after she was hired, she was sent to man the booth at a livestock competition (dairy goat show, IIRC) and a man came up to her and began grilling her on why he should buy her feed rather than The Other Company.
She gave him the standard spiel about the quality, price, availability, etc of her product, and when he kept asking questions about the other feed, pointed out their booth and suggested he visit with them and then make his decision.
She related this to her supervisor on Monday, and he laughed.
Bet her that it was more than likely their CEO who had been grilling her.
Told her that the guy was fanatical that his employees not promote their product by snarking on the competition, and that if she had done so, she’d likely be out of a job.
Not sure what the last part means, but yes, those are 2 forms of iron and if they are in the ingredient list, it means they were added
Iron isn’t required to be listed on a GA, but if it is listed, there’s no way to know how much of that is added fe, or intrinsic fe.
There’s SO MUCH misinformation about iron, it’s so frustrating and scary, as the anti-iron crowd has totally ignored and/or misinterpreted the valid research out there on this, and has made everyone scared of any added Fe.
I don’t know what they were using to rank those 3 feeds.
I don’t believe tribute adds outside sources of iron anymore and are listing intrinsic iron on their guaranteed analysis.
Yes, I know the Wholesome Blends line doesn’t have added Fe, and I think you’re right that they are phasing out added Fe in the rest of the products. I’m glad they are one of the ones who lists Fe in the GA, sooooo many don’t.
Edit for grammar
It looks like they are sharing 3rd party sources. Tributes website would be the most up to date for ingredient specs. I would probably start there and contact the company.
AF, who created the Crypto line, is, ummmm, “interesting”, I’ll leave it at that. She used to post in here, you can search her name. The ONLY thing credible she said is that those 2 ingredients are forms of iron, and being in the ingredient liste means they were added. It’s hysterical that she took one website’s “favorites” and declared CA in the top 3 of ALL feeds. And it’s hilarious that she disagrees with how often others bought the other 2 feeds.
That is the understatement of the year thus far.
It sure did get wild…
