No Bows

My horse has reached the age where he needs to be wrapped daily and for the specific injury he had, he needs no bow wraps to maintain compression. I have and love the Back on Track wraps but I’m looking for something else to use when those get washed. I tried the Vacs no bow wraps but they way they finished the stitching was poor and there were loose threads after a day. I went back to the tack store and they were ALL made that way, so those are out.

I’ve been looking online and I see the Jacks wraps but they look just like the Vacs and I’m wondering if they are the same thing but just under a different name. Does anyone know?

I’ve also found the Lettia, Ultra-Flex, Mustang, these, and the Chicks wraps, and some others. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with any of these wraps? Are there ones you really like? I don’t really want to buy and then have to pay return shipping for thin wraps. I know SmartPak has some too but I was reading that you can only get two days out of them.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Why not go with another set of BoT no bows?

Have you tried the BoT Royal wraps? They’re pretty good at compression, though in the beginning the poofy can be hard to squash…

Wilker’s combo wraps are the best.

They do a quilted no-bow that is also nice because the quilting keeps the foam from disintegrating/bunching. That said I think for long term use the cotton batting filled ones last a lot longer than no-bows.

I asked this question a couple years ago and the dovers wraps got a lot of praise.

I don’t like the wilkers wraps at all. They are SO thick, and I just found them difficult to deal with. If you like no bows, you might feel the same way.

They suck when they’re brand new. Wash them 1-2x and they become a lot easier to handle. I find the mechanical stretch of the cotton to be easier to handle than trying to “stretch” a no-bow around the curves of the leg. But that said they do a no-bow as well, just fully quilted instead of the 3 segments that is typical.

My favorite sets have been the Toklat no-bows. While they seldom saw long term daily use, two sets I have are over 15 years old.

I thought about that but I read that a horse can get used to the effects if used all the time and I was thinking about something cooler for the summer. But maybe I will get another set of no bows. I have the quick wraps and they don’t get tight enough and get really sweaty on my horses legs.

I HATE the Wilker’s combo wraps. I have them but they are a little too long for my horses leg and the next size down is too small. I also can’t get the same kind of compression with them as the no bows. I’ve tried nine ways to Sunday and they just didn’t bring down the swelling like the no bows.

I didn’t know they had a no bow wraps though! That’s something you would think my local tack shop would have had. I’ll check them out! Thanks!

I’m with @WNT – i love the Toklat no-bow wraps. Well made and last forever.

I actually recently ended up with a set of the Centaur climate control wraps which are really more like a no bow and I’m really liking them.
