No e-mail notifications until you revisit

Posting this for Chocomare, who is unable to play on COTH at work - can you imagine - having to work…at WORK!! :eek:

With the old COTH, whenever I started a new thread or replied to a thread, I automatically from that point on, got instant e-mail notification of every single reply posted thereafter. My profile was set up to be this way. Since the switch, I’ll get one or two e-mail replies but at the bottom of the message it says “There may be other replies but you won’t get them until you return to the forum.” Why? I can’t be on COTH as much as I used to so I rely solely on those e-mail notifiers to keep up with a thread…especially a long one (i.e., Big Lick). I have Instant Email notifications selected on my profile, here on the new COTH.

I also did rely on the email notifications to keep me up to date on issues of interest—any chance that function could be restored?

In USER CP edit OPTIONS
Middle of the page edit the following sections. Messaging & Notification

Default Thread Subscription Mode
When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.

There is a drop down box click on arrow and pick which ever option suits you.

I will have to test and see what happens, just because I want to know. I didn’t select email notification this go round since last time I had tons of email and didn’t want to have to sort through.

Doesn’t work for me either - I am going to change the thread subscription on the actual post and see what that does.

Just bumping this up—I really enjoyed getting email notifications of threads which I wanted to keep an eye on; any chance of sending more than one notification between views, like we had before?

For sure! I can’t stand it. I want to keep up on threads that I’ve posted to…especially the big ones, seeing each and every reply. Any hope that this will happen?

To get notifications. That’s just the way the new board works :yes: You get used to it and it keeps you coming back to check-in.

I had been getting notifications by email…not all of them, but a couple between visits. Suddenly, this morning, I had none. I thought huh, that’s funny, it’s the weekend, and no one is posting on any of my subscribed threads?.
When I came on today, people had posted, but I just didn’t recieve ANY email notifications. I checked my CP, and I’m still subscribed, but just not recieving the notifications.
Any one else with this new problem?

It really does seem not to send ALL the posts just a few and then when you visit again it starts up again for a few and quits.

Weird. Although I’m on another board that does it that way as well I think it’s the same software.

Yes, it had been sending a few and seemed to be working fine. Now, all have stopped at least for me. There are new replies and I have been back to the boards…

I have stopped getting any replies to posts. I have revisited the threads, but nothing for at least a day.

I believe it is the same as UDBB. You get a notification of the next post to a thread you are subscribed to but any more posts to that SAME thread will not get new notices until you have checked back to that thread. If there are posts to a different thread you should also get a single notification that you then have to go to that thread, and so on…

I’ve not been getting any of my notifications either. Irritating, because I went back to a thread I had STARTED and thought there were no replies at all, and I saw that eight people had replied with helpful advice and insightful questions, and I felt like I was ingoring their help no matter how unintentional it was.

Just out of curiosity, perhaps trying the “delayed email” or even “daily digest” would be an option? Would you get more content (ie more than one post) or just less email? hmm…

ETA Equinetech says “no thank you” to email notifications except for PM and stuff from admin, cause then I’d have no excuse to surf COTH during lectures

Not sure any of the COTH admins are aware that even the e-mail notifications we had are not working anymore…Haven’t had one since Saturday morning (or maybe Friday night). Not a one. They had been working just fine :no:
