No Electricity Security Cams - REC Please

I’m reading through what’s been posted, but they all seem older.

Looking for a good security camera that doesn’t need electricity.

Brand names, exact models, etc.

THANKS!

On prime day over the summer, I bought a bundle of Blink cameras with a sync module. Two of the four cameras are battery: the Blink Video Doorbell and the Blink Outdoor 4. They do require WiFi.

They are just ok for my needs. Very easy to install, the price is decent, so far the battery has been good. But the video quality and motion detection aren’t great. Handy if you just want to know who is at the door or keep an eye on things, but they would be pretty useless in the event of a real crime. The nice thing is with the sync module, you don’t need to pay for a subscription plan, though.

I run Arlo and Eufy. They are both fine. I prefer the Eufy.

I have them on solar panels wherever possible, because pulling them down to bring into the house to charge just winds up being a pain.

You do need wifi. There are a few options out there that run on a cell network (I think Arlo has one) but then you need good cell coverage.

How about this one?

Bushnell Trail Cameras
CelluCORE™ 20 Solar Cellular Trail Camera
Model: 119904S

Do you want video? Because that doesn’t appear to push video to the app. 70 pics a day isn’t a lot in an active area, although it’ll be fine if you’re placing it somewhere that doesn’t get a lot of movement. You’d need good cell coverage, and there’s a monthly subscription plan.

Trail cam is the easiest solution, but no video. Just stills (as far as I know- which isn’t much). Don’t need light either, they take pics in the dark. No one knows that they are there. If that suits your needs.

I have several Ring cameras that run on their own little solar panels. Have had them up for several years. Very happy with them.

actually there are inexpensive solar trail cameras that can take videos

Campark TC25 2K 4G LTE Cellular Trail Camera Solar Power Wildlife Camera with Motion Detection and Instant Notification… cost is $130

When the camera detects an object moving within the monitoring range, it will automatically record the video and immediately push an alert notification to your phone

I have Eufy with a SIM card in my barn. It is the model that runs off a charge. I only turn it on to check up a couple of times a week and recharge it for 10-12 hours every 8-10 weeks depending on the weather. I’m happy with it. If you have a location to do a solar version definitely do that. I have several solar Eufys at the house on WiFi. Pretty cheap and they’ve been quite reliable (knock wood)

I have a few eufys with solar panel power. I also have tactacam trail cameras. The Eufy use my wifi signal, the tactacam have their own cellular data plan.

Clanter - I’ve always used wifi cameras but have terrible service so I’m looking for a cellular camera. Are you happy how this camera works? Do you pay for the service through your cell phone provider? Campark’s website says 300m of free traffic and after that you have to recharge the traffic. How does that work?

unfortunately on the cell based video we sold the camera service was tied to the system, the systems we sold were used to protect high value assets such oil well drilling sites or game animals. There was a monthly subscription fee that ranged from $30 to $50 (these were the costs ten years ago)

There are Yagi WiFi boosters that can push a directed signal up to a mile. The sign is focused and targeted to the reach the device. The Yagi antennas can cost as low as $40. The one ones we used were in the $150 range

I have Google cams in my stalls (plugged in), and this one in paddocks:

I added an outdoor mesh node to my existing system. Mounted on a fence post close to power (for my stock tank heater). The camera works really well now that I did that. No subscription required. You can add a card if you want to record events. I don’t bother.
